I was around 17 in 2009. I remember in one of my classes in highschool, this kid kept playing that song fireflies by owl city. It was slightly annoying at the time, but when I hear it now, im hit by this wave on nastolgia. Same with watcha say by jason dilero, or something like that. I don't rember his name. They may be trash songs, and its mostly nastolgia. I don't know 2010-2013 was alright but most the music after that is just garbage to me. My mom listens to Morgan Wallen and offin or whatever the tf its called, and I feel like shooting myself.

Late‑2000s pop was both genuinely good and soaked in nostalgia 💿✨
You had Max Martin bangers, Timbaland production, early EDM and electro‑pop, plus those super-melodic, slightly cheesy hooks like “Fireflies” and “Whatcha Say.” Objectively, some tracks are corny, but strong songwriting and memorable melodies hold up.
Your brain also links that music to being 17, friends, school, freedom. That emotional imprint makes it feel “golden” compared to newer stuff your life isn’t built around yet 💔🎧
