It depends on what it is. It also depends on what was going on in my life when I heard it and if it already has some other meaningfulness to it. Like this song. My fiance sent it to me just about a month ago and it was a very beautiful song! It meant a lot to me, mostly BECAUSE she sent it to me as a love song from her to me. I heard it again last night, 2 days after she broke up with me, and now, it makes me cry when I hear it because I love her SOOOOO FUCKING MUCH!!!

Dad had nearly always been on my ass from the time I started school until our final huge row in early `89 when he kicked me out of the house!! The next day, XTC released a new album, "Oranges And Lemons" and, being a huge fan, I bought a copy. On the album was a song called, "Hold Me My Daddy".
I eventually made my way back into the house but, that didn't stop his tirades with me. He had another that summer and, afterwards, he went to bed and I got the bright idea to write the words to that song on a piece of paper in my own hand and accidentally on purpose leave it on the kitchen table, as if I'd written this song myself and went to bed forgetting to take the tablet with me.
The next morning, he got up to have his coffee and saw the lyrics on the table and decided to read them. My plan worked!! He posted them on the fridge door for anyone to read and, from that day forth, he never got mad at me again, except if I made a questionable play during a card game.
A while later, his brother in Trexas died and he flew down for the funeral. Before leaving for the airport, he was saying his goodbyes to mom and I, even though she was driving him to the airport.

Sorry, I was just having a crying fit!!

So, anyway, after hugging mom, he turned to me and said with a kind of joking smile on his face, said, "I'll bet you can't wait to get rid of MY ass!!" Or, maybe it was, "I'll bet you can't WAIT to see ME go!!". With mom behind me and, without saying a word, I stepped up to him and gave him a big hug!! Probably the first and only one I gave him since I was 5!! They left for the airport and when mom came back a couple hours later, she told me, "When you hugged him he had such a stunned look on his face, you could've knocked him over with a feather!"
He died several years later in Jan. `06 and I played a recording of that song at the funeral before speaking and, I couldn't stop crying long enough to say what I wanted. I got it all out through a flood of tears and snot but now, I can't help but cry every time I hear that song or even think of it! I've gone through 4 Kleenex just while writing this and I tend to use each one at least 3 times!!

I am a lyrics person so to me, the words are what makes the song.

One of my pet peeves is when someone is singing live into a microphone with their hands wrapped around the top of the microphone and I can't hear any of the words or even try to see their mouth to try to guess what the words are.

Ever since I was a young girl I have loved music 🎶 and loved listening to records, going to concerts and dancing to a live band.

Last year I remember I couldn't sleep on night and at 1 a. m. I was jamming to Stairway to Heaven LOUD. 70 years old and still jammin' to rock-'n'-roll.

The part about some music/songs is that they bring back memories to me so fast and before I know it, I'm sad and crying.

Many different things. I can really listen to the lyrics of a song I have hear a thousand times and I hear something new that the songwriter wanted to convey. Or else a song can remind me of someplace I have been or somebody I used to know. A song can give me hope or else helpme through a failure.
