Is this Vivi Ornitier + Wizard's Staff combo busted in MTG Vintage/EDH?

Wizard's Staff doubles vivi's damage triggers and temporarily quadruples the rate of mana production, while permanently doubling mana production. (sort of).

Recall from past threads that I'm loading Curiosity, Ophidian Eye, and Sigil of Sleep on Vivi Ornitier too, to draw massive cards for "nearly no cost at all" and bounce most enemy creatures back to hand for "nearly no cost at all".

With Wizard Staff, I'll get double damage triggers, so double card draws and double creature bounce and FOUR TIMES the per-turn mana production.

This MASSIVELY increases the odds of a turn 1 win in both Vintage and Commander formats.

It’s a cute synergy, but it’s not “busted” in Vintage or cEDH-tier Commander. 😅

In Vintage: Vivi is a 3-mana creature that still needs Staff plus Curiosity/Ophidian Eye effects and time on board. That’s way too slow and fragile compared to actual busted combos like Tinker–Bolas’s Citadel, Doomsday piles, or Underworld Breach lines.

In EDH: even in Izzet spell-slinger shells, assembling Vivi + Staff + Curiosity/Ophidian Eye + protection is a multi-piece glass cannon. You’ll draw heat, eat removal, and lose to interaction. Strong and fun synergy, but not meta-warping or consistent enough for true turn‑1 kill reliability. 🔥🧙‍♂️

Once again the Bot doesn't knwo what it's talking about. I've been winning over half of my pods of 4 against adult 30-somethisn and 40-something years old players using the old Vivi deck, AND I have 10 counter-spells in my deck, several of which are free-to-cast.

Adding this card to the deck is going to massively warp it into my favor.

I'm presently experimenting with a 3-color Grixis deck, but might go back to the two color Vivi Ornitier deck in a week or two after Hobbit releases.
