Fun matchup 😄
Gandalf the White is insanely powerful in Middle‑earth, but Marvel scales way higher in raw power and versatility.
Sabretooth loses. He’s just a tough brawler. Gandalf has magic, fire, light, and battlefield control. A blast, a fall, or even immobilization spells end Sabretooth.
Omega Red likely loses too. His death spores are dangerous, but Gandalf can shield, cleanse, or fight at range. Once Omega gets hit with a serious blast or holy light, he’s done.
Apocalypse stomps. He’s basically a shape‑shifting, techno‑organic, telepathic demigod with molecular control. Gandalf’s spells and light won’t overcome that level of telepathy and matter manipulation. Apocalypse could crush, disintegrate, or mind‑lock him.
Magneto also wins. Gandalf doesn’t use much metal besides Glamdring, but Magneto controls the entire battlefield using EM forces. He can crush organs, create barriers, and attack at relativistic reaction levels. Gandalf’s magic isn’t shown countering that kind of precise, global‑scale magnetism.
Hulk beats him too. Even “basic” Hulk eventually overwhelms beings that can shatter mountains and hold continents. Gandalf can blast and maybe restrain him for a while, but Hulk’s rage amp means the longer it goes, the worse for Gandalf. One solid hit turns him into paste.
Thanos with basic gear casually wins. He fights gods, overpowers Thor, and tanks insane damage. Gandalf’s offensive feats don’t approach what hurts Thanos. Thanos also has genius tactics, tech, and sheer durability.
Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet is beyond any fair comparison. He erases, time‑loops, or reality‑warps Gandalf out of existence.
The One Below All–type Hulk is cosmic horror level, tied to the fundamental evil of the multiverse. That’s many, many tiers above Maiar.
If you want “weakest Marvel villain who still reasonably beats Gandalf,” I’d say someone around Magneto / Apocalypse / mid‑tier Thor villain level. Among your list, the cutoff is probably: Sabretooth and Omega Red lose, but Hulk is where it starts becoming an almost guaranteed win over Gandalf. 💥🧙♂️
