📻 Do you still listen to radio station broadcasts?

All the time.

I don't watch TV anymore... not even subscription streamers like Netflix. (I do watch YouTube videos or Facebook reels.)

But, I pay about $25/month for a SiriusXM premium account and it is worth every penny. For one thing, I listen (usually by streaming) MLB radio broadcasts. And, of course, in my car, I listen. Right now, as I type, I am listening to the post-game show of the Seattle Mariners' victory over the Houston Astros. I live near Saint Louis Missouri, yet the radio broadcast is actually from Seattle Sports 710 AM (KIRO).

One radio station that I wish I could listen to I can't. Two years ago, after almost 100 years of broadcasting, WCBS 880-AM in NYC, stopped broadcasting. That frequency has since become WHSQ, which is an ESPN station. It's criminal. WCBS was "Newsradio 88... Traffic and weather together on the 8s". As a native NYer born in NYC and raised on Long Island, WCBS was my way to feel connected to my home native home. NYC has WINS 1010-AM "1010 wins news. You give us 22 minutes and we'll give you the world." WINS and WCBS were both owned by Audacy who decided to cheap-out and get rid of WCBS because it was a Clear Channel station (that's important in radio) and so was coveted by ESPN for the NYC area; previously, the ESPN station in NYC was not on a Clear Channel station so it didn't travel as far.

Still, it's criminal what happened to WCBS 880-AM. It was an institution in the NYC Tri-State area.

Listen after the sign-off (with the transition to midnight), there's a minute of silence, then an obnoxious beginning of WHSQ starting broadcasting.

Somebody at Audacy should be put up against the wall and shot.

Yeah, sure, digital radio in my car.

We have a lot of classical radio stations. Plus kerrang radio is excellent. Fair play to them, they don't over repeat songs like a lot of stations. A lot of variety, from Metallica, NOFX, to newer stuff.

Just music in the car. Any time I have ever switched to AM it's all politics, sports and religious stuff. I have no interest.

A little but it's main stream slop. To get anything you nee Steve Turley or Sargon of Akkad, Promethian Updates. Then you get the truth. I listened to classical music all day driving a wheel loader sometimes the Spanish station but they had way too many ads.

No, I stopped listening to radio about 35 years ago. I got tired of listening to the same 12 records over and over again after 15 years. I switched to a progressive oldies station (they stick with whatever was top hits 30 years earlier) and they were playing loads of great stuff I hadn't heard since I was a kid. I stuck with them for just over a decade until THEY started playing those same 12 records so, I haven't listened to radio on my own ever since.

Only in the car, where I usually listen to NPR (National Public Radio), and sometimes one of the local talk stations. I rarely listen to music when I'm driving.

Yes, I listen to a talk show in the morning and there is somebody that has a radio show on Saturday that plays all stuff from the 60s and 70s that you cannot hear anyplace else.
