Oh wowâŠtough to narrow it down to one. Iâll give some albums that I consider to be all-timers though, that are no-skips for me (or low-skips, at least).
Rap/hip-hop is my major, with a minor in pop punk/emo, grunge, and metal/NüMetal, Iâd say. I also love 90s R&B but I think of that less in terms of albums and more singles; and the albums I WOULD recommend wouldâve been R. Kelly, lmfao, soooooâŠ..😅😂 I could make this incredibly long but Iâm going to try to keep it as concise as possible.
âSafeâ Rap:
The Roots â Do You Want More?; Illadelph Half-Life
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory; Midnight Marauders
Fugees - The Score
Outkast - ATLiens; Aquemini
Kanye West - The College Dropout
Gangsta Rap:
Dr. Dre - The Chronic; The Chronic 2001
Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle
2Pac - Me Against The World
Spice-1 - 187 He Wrote
Mobb Deep - The Infamous
Notorious B. I. G. - Ready To Die
The Diplomats (DipSet) - Diplomatic Immunity
Nas - Illmatic; It Was Written
Fat Joe - Jealous Ones Envy
Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt
LiI Wayne - The Carter/ The Carter II/ Dedication To Disaster 2 mixtape
Eminem - The Slim Shady LP/ The Marshall Mathers LP
Pop-Punk/Emo:
Blink-182 - Enema Of The State
Green Day - Dookie
Rancid - And Out Come The WolvesâŠ
Paramore - All We Know Is Falling; Riot!
Taking Back Sunday - Tell All Your Friends; Where You Want To Be
Panic! At The Disco - A Fever You Canât Sweat Out
Hard rock/Metal/Nü-Metal:
Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction
Korn - Follow The Leader
Incubus - S. C. I. E. N. C. E.
Rage Against The Machine - Self-titled album; Evil Empire
Pantera - A Vulgar Display Of Power; Far Beyond Driven
Grunge/Alternative/Other Rando 90s Music
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream; Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness
Nirvana - Nevermind
Pearl Jam - Ten
Weezer - Self-titled (âThe Blue Albumâ)
Sublime - 40 oz To Freedom; Self-titled album
No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom
BONUS - Classic Rock:
Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
Boston - Self-titled
You should definitely find something you like out of all that, haha
You might also know a lot of this stuff already. When I was your age, we couldnât just search through Spotify to find music from before our time, haha. Itâs surprising to me that someone your age would know Linkin Park, but maybe it shouldnât beđ
Here's some old school history to explore.
Stevie Wonder - Talking Book
https://www.youtube.com/embed/b1U6HReJeqoMighty Sam McClain - Keep On Movin This is one song "A Soul That's Been Abused"
https://www.youtube.com/embed/PAsJtyJiQpgJethro Tull - Aqualung
https://www.youtube.com/embed/QcCQ9NXF5s0Kansas - Leftoverture
https://www.youtube.com/embed/f5jom_YYeGUNot just one. . .
In no particular order, several come to mind:
1. Thriller - Michael Jackson
2. Off The Wall - Michael Jackson
3. Songs From The Big Chair - Tears For Fears
4. The Hurting - Tears For Fears
5. The Best of Dave Grusin - Dave Grusin
6. Hotel California - The Eagles
7. Saturday Night Fever Movie Sound Track - Bee Gees
8. Beauty And The Beat - Go-Go's
9. Like I Virgin - Madonna
10. Madonna - Madonna
There are many more but I don't have time to enumerate the rest of them.
You have great taste in music
Thanks @Bklynbadboy12.
I wanted to list some of the contemporary jazz instrumental albums and their artists that I truly enjoy listening to but I didn't think they'd be familiar to the peeps here.
I believe the albums I mentioned above are popular with the GAG community.
@DeeDeeDeVour Your welcome
Hybrid Theory is such a classic, perfect choice 🖤 RIP Chester, his voice still hits so deep.
My all-time favorite is âIn Rainbowsâ by Radiohead. Itâs insanely atmospheric, every track feels like its own little universe, and itâs perfect for late-night listening or drawing sessions. âWeird Fishes/Arpeggiâ and âReckonerâ are pure magic 🎧âš

That's very hard to say. I would have to say that it would have to be an album with no skip-worthy songs. There are VERY few albums like that outside of soundtracks or "Best of / Greatest Hits" albums.
Pink Floyd's trio of albums: "Dark Side of the Moon", "Wish You Were Here", and "Animals" essentially fit this description.
Queensrÿche's "Operation: Mindcrime" and perhaps The Who's "Tommy" which are concept albums which tell a story perhaps should also be included.
There are some others but I just can't think of them off the top of my head.
I couldnât have a single favorite. There are a number of albums that i luvâd beginning to end. âHybrid Theoryâ is among them. There was also Run DMCâs âRaising Hellâ, Guns n Roses âAppetite for Destructionâ, Metallicaâs Black album, Snoop Dogg âDoggystyleâ, Dr. Dreâs âThe Chronicâ, Garth Brooks âNo Fencesâ, Eminem⊠pick one, theyâre all phenomenal.
If iâm honest though, a lot of the albums i put on repeat were compilation albums with various artists. Some were soundtracks. Maybe my favorite soundtrack of all time is âSucker Punchâ. The soundtrack for âPulp Fictionâ is amazing too. In addition to great songs, there are clips of iconic dialogue from the movie.
Some of my favorite albums are by standup comics. I donât remember the name of it, but i had a CD of Dave Attell live from a local theater in my then hometown. You canât really do comedy on repeat like music. But itâs always fun to go back to them after the punchlines fade from memory.
Bro you have phenomenal taste in music
I blame radio mostly, but MTVâs hay day was my youth too. Most of the albums i bought were a direct result of hearing one or two songs on the radio or MTV, and really enjoying them. Some of the music stores i shopped also had listening stations where you could sample more than just the hits off any given album. There was so much great music! Those mail order music distributors were instrumental in exposing me to new stuff too. When CDs were only a buck, i could pick a few âyou might also likeâ selections without regrets if it was terrible. đđ
a lot lot od the music you listed i forgot. It brought bad a lot of good memories
If that is your favorite then Iâm already impressed by your good taste.
It will be tough to give you a better recommendation.
Maybe Nevermind by Nirvana.
But I assume you know that one.
Personally I try to mix and match my favorite songs and artists, I rarely put on an album and listen to it fro start to finish.
I will try my best.
Although I donât think theyâre very niche:
You have Alice in Chains, 3 days grace, 3 doors down, breaking benjamin
They all some good songs
Or another recommendation:
Hysteria by Def Leppard.
Be curious to know if I helped or just listed what you already had in your playlist ;)
All of Tool albums were fun
Ween- they had a classic cover. It was awesome.
Blink 182 had a cool one. Whatever the album was called after dude Ranch.
Nirvana Nevermind and in Utero were iconic.
Green Day- Dookie was a fun one to look at.
I Framed a vinyl copy of Herbie Mann- Push Push, just because it was so gross.
I could never pick and name just one above all other...
but I can mention the first one I got, lol... Live Aus Berlin
@RachyRach have you listened to Dead Sara yet?
I don't know that I have just one.
The Beatles / Sgt. Pepper
Pink Floyd / Ummagumma
King Crimson / Larks Tongues In Aspic
The Fixx / Reach The Beach
B-Tribe / Spiritual Spiritual
Solar Quest / Orgship
Jean-Michel Jarre / Oxygene
Tangerine Dream / Stratosphere
Fleetwood Mac / Then Play On (the original American version)
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band / Troutmaskreplica
XTC / English Settlement (the British version)
This album very unique. It has the first songs ever recorded by Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and Jackson Browne. Also the album cover was photographed by Linda Eastman who was married to Paul McCartney.
Yeah RIP Linkin Park. Listened to them all the time in Highschool.
Can't blame Chester for wanting to quit this reality and he didn't get to see how further fucked up the world became. If he wasn't killed by a fed that is.
Try listening to a song about my glorious ancestors, 'Hereward the Wake' by The Skaldic Bard.
Anything new that I like reminds me of something old that I like, so I haven't found too much new music that I like. Since you like Linkin Park, try listening to 311 ( three eleven) They have a greatest hits LP and 14 studio albums and 4 live ones. They're not new, they're from the 1990's. They're not as bombastic or rap driven, but you might like it.
It might be Benefit by Jethro Tull
Captain Beyond (the first album)
Axis: Bold as Love and Electric Ladyland - Jimi Hendrix
Led Zeppelin II
Bridge Over Troubled Water
Meet the Beatles
I can never pick just one
But, You're Living All Over Me by Dinosaur Jr. Is a major contender

Great choice with Hybrid Theory! That album defined an entire generation.
Elton John âSaturday Nightâs All Right
https://www.youtube.com/embed/NagnbRHdh-0With over 30,000 titles in our collection, choosing only one would be impossible. I might be able to narrow it down to a top 100, maybe, but even that would be a nightmare of a task.
Julia Wolf's 🐺 latest album has really sung to me along with her 2023 hits to 2026 now 😋👀

It's not a new artist, but it's one of the iconic rock bands from my generation; the album I like was The Early Beatles, that album was done when the Beatles were JUST getting big in Britain and soon America.
Iâm not much into newer music. Iâm more into Michael JacksonâI love most of his albums

No such thing. There is way too much good music (similar to good movies).
That's a great one!!
I have so many... let's say today's album is Metallica's Master of Puppets
You and Tony Metal seem to agree
Wow, I would have a hard time choosing a favorite album by most of the bands/artists I like, let alone a #1 overall.
It varies depending on mood but Iâd say in the top 3 is definitely Led Zeppelin IV
@RachyRach I'm also Linkin park fan 😊
@RachyRach
