What’s a song you really liked even though the whole thing didn’t make sense to you?

Question

Like the lyrics, the meaning, the vibe, the music video… none of it made sense, but you still enjoyed it… I’ll go first.. this one 😭😄

Dancing madly backwards
I'm dancing on a sea
Erasing all my memories
Of blackness in my dreams

Tip toe, tip toe quickly
Forget about your cares
And remember underneath you
Is just a sea of air
Just remember underneath you
Is just a sea of air

Wishing all your wishes
Are landing on a star
Knowing you are planted here
And knowing that's so far

Dance, dance faster
I madly dance away
But remember underneath you
Is just a sea of air
Just remember underneath you
Is just a sea of air

Well, it's alright now, looked it face to face
Don't complain, if it seems too late
No no no no no

Ah, 'cause I'm not sitting on the Golden gate
Love and a peace and a war and hate
No no no no no

Well I'm not gonna sit around and wait
All I'm a doing is losing my face
No no no no

But we're all on stage that's for sure
Searching is endless when there ain't no cure

I can think of a few, mostly just because of language barriers, and one because…. well, dubstep, lmao. Remember dubstep?😂

Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites”, aka “Womp-wub-wub-wub-Womp-wub-wub-wub-Womp-Womp”😝

I get that this one is some kind of love ballad, “Stay With Me”, the titular chorus, is in English, but all the rest is in Japanese. But I love it, because this is the answer to the question I didn’t even know I was asking: “What if Japan had disco, but like ten years too late?”😂 Enjoy “Stay With Me” by Miki Mitsubara…

A few old reggaeton songs sound good to me too, but hell if I know what they’re saying, lmao. This is Eddy Lover featuring La Factoria, “Perdoname.” I think he says some stuff in English in a bridge, particularly “I’m sorry”, which I could see “perdoname” being a cognate for, so I know this is an apology ballad, haha…

An old song called "Won't you take me to Funkytown," or simply "Funkytown."

I wanted to know, where IS Funkytown. What happens in Funkytown, and how the hell could I get someone to take me there!!! ahaahahaahha!

Pretty much everything on the Tales From Topographic Oceans album by Yes. You have to read those lyrics many times over before any of it starts making any sense.

For me it’s “Gangnam Style” by PSY 😂
The first time I saw that video, nothing connected in my brain: the horse dance, random explosions, sauna scene, elevator guy, colors everywhere… zero sense, total chaos.

But it was so catchy, fun, and confident that I didn’t even care about the meaning. I still dance to it at parties like it’s 2012 again 💃🎶

I'd say one called "Sweet Dream in Sea Major" by "Miracle Musical." Here's a video with the song and lyrics. It's kinda long, 7 minutes.

I swear I've never done hard drugs or anything like that (without counting medical drugs for mental health and I took it just as prescribed) but this song is what I imagine hard drugs feel like. It's just a weird song that doesn't really make sense and seems to mix multiple languages throughout and I can only really describe it as the "trippiest song I've ever heard." It lowkey sounds like dying and going to heaven or something.

I have no idea what it means. No idea how I even found it. I just randomly found in on YouTube one day, not even looking for it, it just came up on autoplay lol. I normally hate autoplay but autoplay did good for once. I love this song.

'Nights On Broadway', by the Bee Gees (1975). The song just cooks all the way through, until that stupid slow part at the end. But it still sold a zillion copies.

Many Blondie songs devolve into nonsense, for example "Picture This" which ends with "One on one is what I'm tellin' you / Get a pocket computer / Try to do what you used to do, yeah"
