Have you ever done a band binge?

Cull together everything you can get your hands on by a certain artist and then just play the entire collection in one sitting.
As far as I can recall, the only band I've ever been able to do it with was The Moody Blues. MAYBE Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Laurie Anderson, Wall Of Voodoo and Art Of Noise.
When I worked at Cedar Point, summer `78, I lived in the dorms just outside the park and, way down the other end of the hall I lived in, there was a fairly large room with about 5 guys living in it and they were all huge Moody Blues fans. They played their records nearly all day, every day and, the Moodies had JUST released their 9th studio album, Octave, just about the time I got there in early July.
I'd been at least marginally interested in the band several years before this, I already had their first American album and Days Of Future Past, and recently heard, On The Threshold Of A Dream on the radio but, that's about as far I got with them.
I spent a bit of time hanging out with these guys at the end of the hall and was starting to get into The Moodies a bit. Once I got back home at the end of Sept, I decided to go buy all of their records I could find up to that point. Then, I recorded them all to cassettes so I could listen to each non-stop and not have to deal with playing the records.
One night, I decided to try listening to the entire collection in one go so, just after dinner one summer night, I went up to my room on the third floor and sat in the corner of my room with just one dim light on and did nothing but sit there and listen to all 9 studio albums (I'm not sure if I included the 3 live sides on the Live + 5 album), and really got into the music while just eating pretzel roods and drinking root beer. I had a great time doing that!!
I planned it so that, just as Twilight Time played on Days Of Future Past, it actually WAS twilight time in real life and the music would match the mood and feel perfectly!! The entire evening took about 6 hours.

A while later, they released their next album and I added that to the collection and listened to the whole thing again with the new album. So far, I've done it every time they released a new album up until I lost track of them when they released, "Keys To The Kingdom". It took me a few years to find that one. They've had 2 or 3 albums since then and I also found The British version of the first album as well as a number of the non-album singles of that era but, I have yet to do another binge

I did a full Radiohead run once, all studio albums in order, alone in my apartment with candles and junk food. Felt like an emotional sci‑fi trip. I’ve also binged Pink Floyd, Björk, and Bowie.

Kind of. Back in 1982 there was this little ol' band from Texas who played and sounded just like zz top. There was a place called the Music Ranch. It was in a large pasture with trees all around and it was byob and we did. They had a nice stage built about 6 feet high and also a local opening band who was not to shabby themselves. All summer long we went there. It was like a mini woodstock.

Back in 1980-1981 we had this guy from our class who became DJ at our local radio station. He is the reason I know a bit of the Moody Blues. Nights in White Satin is my favorite that I've heard. Anyway, John loved them and would play several every night he dj'd. He's a flaming liberal who never left mama even after marrying.

In a roundabout way (only during waking hours and only when I'm going someplace or at work), I've also done King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Tangerine Dream and a couple shorter versions of The Beatles (Only their officially released stuff, no sessions material or pre-recording days material), I might've done Yes, The Fixx and Led Zeppelin. Artists with much lesser output are much easier to do in just one day but, Jethro Tull might take 2 or 3 days non-stop, King Crimson would take at least 4 or 5 days non-stop, Tangerine Dream would take nearly a full month non-stop and, although I haven't figured it out, yet, The Beatles might take a few months (Just the Get Back sessions might take half a month). I include all of their solo stuff, too.
I did Culture Club when they still only had 2 or 3 albums out and, it was actually a bit depressing.
Doing King Crimson is cool except that, with all the live material, you have to listen to dozens or so of the same songs over and over again. Especially, "21st Century Schizoid Man"! They did that at just about EVERY concert!!
Tangerine Dream is pretty cool for their first decade (nearly everything is completely improv until about 1977) and then, they just keep doing the exact same concerts over and over again. I'm almost convinced that they'd record one concert and then just replay the tape at every subsequent concert throwing in a couple short improv pieces just to make it sound like the whole thing was live but, in most cases, the songs from one concert are the exact same length as all the other concerts, except that they might be a couple seconds longer or shorter.

That reminds me. I just finished the Moody Blues Greatest Hits. 12 songs and number 12 sounds like a Beatles song. Yeah, rad!
To my surprise I knew every song but one and didn't know it was the Moodies on all but 4. Nights in White Satin, Tuesday Afternoon, (like that one too) and two others that were 80s i think. Like late 80s. The album says 67-89.
Oh, here's a weird one. I've kind of been binging on ZZtop for a good 3 weeks before Beard passed. I also wanted to hear your opinion of his expertise on skins. He was very active, hummed. Then he dies last week.
