Sadism and masochism are a means of deriving pleasure from harm. Most people think that being sad increases cortisol and is unhealthy thus they try to be positive in a shitstorm. Which means deriving pleasure within chaos.

Stop with the "positivity" and "mindful" and "mental strength", they are all euphemisms for sadomasochism. Refusing to be hurt by hardship is masochism, it means sustaining cope-level of endorphins while being tormented.

The only way not to be a sadomasochist is to voluntarily feel offended and even whine to yourself over everything that is imperfect. From a spiritual perspective this would align with paying karma in the emotions so that physical shit is no more.
