I can. That’s exactly how I describe myself as a singer. I’m not bad, but I’m definitely not technically “good”…. but I can carry a tune.
Song selection and knowing my range limits are EVERYTHING. There are songs I’d love to sing at karaoke, and ALMOST could, but there’ll be one part that takes me out of range (I’m more comfortable as a baritone than a tenor; my speaking voice is low and flat), so that’ll kill the whole idea for me. But that’s the key to a good karaoke performance: knowing what you CAN’T do.
