Personally, I used to think metal wasn’t that emotional, but after listening to songs like “Vermilion” or “Snuff” by Slipknot and other songs, I’ve realized how expressive the genre can be and how deeply it can convey emotions through its instrumentals, vocals, and overall atmosphere…share your favorite metal song😊

metal can be about all of that, and more... and that's why there are many different times of metal as well...

it's definitely one of the most expressive genres out there but often, expressed in a more powerful and resounding way, although... many times, melodic as well

instrumental for sure and vocal too, physical display and visuals of their own, and very opinionated as well, lmao

whether you enjoy it or not... metal will have an impact, for sure, lol

It’s the sound and tone of distortion through the amps of an electric guitar that defines it. Example would be Deep Purple that is considered to be Englands first HM band. Their ultra great guitarist Richie Blackmore was the first to get HM tones and distortion on a Strat which prior to that was thought impossible

Here’s my fave from Deep Purple. It’s Highway Star from the album Made in Japan. The tone is HM and the guitar solo has gone down in rock history as one of top five solos of all time. I’m too dumb to know how to show it here but you can stream it from YouTube or whatever. Another interesting tidbit about this song and Deep Purple is it was their keyboardist John Lord was a classically trained musician and leader of the band. He was especially fond of Bach. Highway Star is all Bach. The chord projections and even Richie’s solo are all based on Bachs style. Betcha never knew the masters could rock!

I been spinning a lot of Nuclear Assault, Motorhead and Fugitive lately. People tend to think of metal as sounding like one thing when really there's so many variations, thats the magic of it. It can carry a lot of emotion both good and bad.

It is probably the most emotional music genre of all. Some people find the music too busy, and it is too complex for many, so they dismiss it. Anything that requires some intense listening is too much work for the average music fan.

For me metal is pure emotion first, expressed through both instruments and vocals together 🎧
The distortion, riffs, tempo changes and drums carry the tension, rage or sorrow, while the vocals give it a human core, whether it’s growls, screams or clean singing.

Slipknot is a great example. I love how “Snuff” and “Duality” feel almost cinematic.
My personal forever fave is “Hallowed Be Thy Name” by Iron Maiden 🤘✨
