"Words" that changed my life

Quotes of wisdom from my parents

Growing up there were quotes my parents would say in almost every situation,

especially those that involved high stress.

Although they were said a numerous amount of times,

my mind didn't absorb what they truly meant until there came a time where I

could finally apply these words to my every day life.

I had to gain life experience before I could validate any of these words that

were said to me time and time again.

"Words" that changed my life

What's done in the darkness will come to light.

I couldn't fathom how true that was as a kid. But as I live and grow, I see that hidden lies have a way of revealing themselves over time. Lies are hard to keep up. You can only hold on to them for so long before a volcano erupts then everything is out in the open.

In my opinion, this makes things so much worse.

It's better to be out with the truth.

Who laughs last, laughs the best!

This was my Mother's favorite thing to say!

So, you're laughing now? Yes, things may seem funny.

You may feel as if you have won.

You may also feel as if you have the world on your shoulders.

But don't worry, the time will come where I have all of the power and satisfaction. You will be sat in your hidden corner with nothing to say. So, don't think because you are " on top now" that things will continue to stay that way.

The race is not for the fastest, it is for the swiftest.

Have you ever heard the story about the tortoise and the hare?

The hare and the tortoise were opponents in a race. The hare was the fastest. The tortoise was extremely slow. The hare was very cocky. He wanted to show he could put in very little effort and still finish the race first In the end. He slept numerous of times in different areas through out the race. To his amazement, when he awoke he saw the tortoise crossing the finish line. The tortoise was extremely committed and dedicated. Although he wasn't the fastest, he got the work done and became very accomplished in the end.

This story holds a very true valuable lesson that can be applied in real life.

As long as you hold commitment and dedication to something, you CAN and WILL finish it.

It might not be as quickly as you want, but you will get it done because of your strong efforts and will.

Having will gives you the power to finish anything you put your mind to.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

No matter how desperately you try to change someone, they will not be altered unless they come to a point where they are ready to make that step.

No matter how deeply you advise some people, they have to make their own mistakes before they can truly see.

Some people can be warned and told not to do something a million times, but he/she has to experience the discomfort herself to learn from it.

That is what mistakes are all about, taking and growing from them.

I can imagine, most of us know right from wrong but that doesn't stop people from doing things that may be harmful to themselves or others.

Some people have to have that pit fall before they can get back up and take knowledge from their experience(s).

"Words" that changed my life

There were many more quotes my parents have said that instilled knowledge and value in me.

The words I shared were the ones that stuck with me.

I am thankful and grateful for the knowledge my parents have taught me,

that I continue to take into every day life.

I find myself helping others and giving back that same knowledge that was given to me.

It's funny when you reflect on situations you've been through and realize that you sound so much

like your parents.

We love these people!

But there were times where we could not stand them!

I bet they could say the same about us....

Kindness and gratitude goes a long way:
