Pal? Dude? Buddy?

OK boys this is a serious pet peeve of mine: when I start getting to know a guy and then start liking him and he calls me pal/dude/buddy. It just makes it seem like he seems me as 'one of the guys' or 'just a friend' and is trying to make it clear that that's all I am.

So my question is, is that the case? When you call a girl pal/dude/buddy is it because you really just don't have feelings for her in the 'more than a friend' way? Or is it just a pet peeve that I maybe shouldn't have in the first place?

So the one guy I work with who called me 'pal' last weekend (and was my main motivation for this post) just started this joke at work about how we're dating. I know it doesn't mean anything but it's a little condescending haha =P

Yeah, calling a girl pal or buddy is really a sign that you're in the friend zone. It doesn't mean things can't change, but you'd really have to work at that and leave strong hints that you don't want to be just friends. But the only time I call a girl pal or buddy or dude is when I don't see her as more than a really good friend that I am comfortable with.

Well you can call someone you like a friend, you just wouldn't use the words "buddy" or "pal". You can always see someone you like as a friend.

i've had guys do that to me when they were trying to be nice about letting me know I was a friend to them. not being gay but you are really pretty if you really want the guy I'm sure you can get out of the friend zone

Haha aw thank you very much, I'm not gonna worry about it too much just a bit of an annoyance when you're into a dude who keeps calling you pal lol...I wanna be like "I'M NOT YOUR F'IN PAL, I WANNA DO YOU..." Talk about frustration =P

It's usually a subtle way of showing you're in the friendzone. I know this because I do it lol.

Hard to say, some guys have a nick name which they call everyone. Eg buddy, bud, bro, mate etc etc.

Nah haven't had sex, and haven't been hung up. I met the one through work and the other through friends, developed a little crush, made out with the one who likes to call me 'dude, and the work friend texted me 'It was good seeing ya pal, sweet dreams' after I got home when he invited me out with his friends. Frustrating lol.
