How to make friends?

I don't have social skills and just don't know how to talk to people and not make it awkward, which causes me anxiety now. How do you make friends? Especially guy friends, I grew up around my mother and sister and had no guy friend, and now connecting with other men seems weird and difficult.

I would recommend just identifying things that you enjoy and characteristics that you enjoy being around and seeking out people who share those things with you. The hardest part is going to be just saying fuck it and introducing yourself to someone or a group of someone's. The most important thing is (as cliché as it sounds) to be yourself. Making friends while pretending to be someone else will just add to the anxiety and awkwardness.
