Is nudity common amongst siblings?

About a month ago my older sister moved in with me and we share the apartment. Nudity was never a thing when we lived with our parents. But now she just seems to not care. Its obviously got no sexual meaning and its not like we just hang out in the nude all day.

But for example, she will come back from a run and just throw all her clothes in the wash and walk to the bathroom naked. She even started walking into the bathroom while I was showering to brush her teeth etc and doesn't even acknowledge that I'm standing there naked.

At first I was pretty shocked but I must admit I'm starting to do it as well now and I've realised I just don't care if she sees my body. She is family after all.

Is this a normal situation where siblings, esp same sex siblings just don't care about covering up.

Whats the attitude of people out there?

I don't have any siblings, but I do have female cousins who are around my age. I think we were at a water park a few years ago and saw each other naked in the lockeroom. The older of the two cousins I think was sort of shy and changed under a towel but the younger cousin got completely naked.

Eh, sometimes. One of my sisters and I will change in front of one another because it’s no big deal.

That's perfectly normal. It's good to be comfortable enough to be nude at home, or at least not having to take extra measures to cover up.

I don't think so, no. My brother and I have never walked around nude around each other. Just seems weird.

While I am unfortunate enough to be an only child, I grew up with my cousins (same house). One day, we went to a cement surrounded closet-like space and opened up to examine each others genitals (both male and female). Our curiosity satisfied, we did not repeat that, but I have been impressed since then by how firmly society sticks to a twisted and frequently hypocritical version of modesty.

Of the relatively few scientific studies done on the subject it is evident that non-sexual social nudity promotes greater self-awareness and self-discipline. I think it is a bit like the monster under the bed. When we fear something, we stay away. As long as we stay away, our fear will remain or get worse whenever we are peripherally confronted by it.

Socially, we fear the unknown such as reputation, social dynamics, the potential for losing control of our self image (are we decent, are we sexually normal, are we mentally healthy, etc). The only real issues with being naked around others (male or female) are cultural or individually personal. If we follow our cultural conditioning, we will probably only feel at ease regarding typical fears if we are upholding a poorly rationalized sense of modesty. If we develop our own subculture and don't feel leered at by our personal relations, then it is both normal and desirable for us to be naked as often as we can be comfortable with.

I recently came across a video from 1938 that informed a viewer about the data at the time — 4,000,000 people (implying North America), approx., who were "nudists". Given that is way beyond what you ask and that families in some areas of the world are far less body shy than yourself, I think it is safe to say your behavior is absolutely normal, but local social conditioning might make some people you meet feel very differently…

I have two younger sisters and we were frequently naked around the house, especially in the summer. It wasn't sexual, and it wasn't a big deal in my family. We also saw our parents naked sometimes. As adults, it doesn't happen much but when one of my sisters came to visit for a week, I noticed that she still undresses in her bedroom and then walks to the bathroom naked, for example. My wife and I raised our daughter the same way. It's all perfectly natural.

Generally normal for same sex siblings; not so much for opposite sex siblings.

In some families it is common. I don't mind if my brother or sister appear nude. I myself don't care to put on clothes.

I don't know how common it is. My sister and I have been naked around each other. My brother and I have changed around each other.

Yes being nude with family is fine. I have two sisters and I don`t dress just because they arrive etc.
