How do you explain this to a child?

I have a 9 years old cousin who stays with me for her summer break.

Yesterday I was netflixing and she sat down and watched with me.

In a movie people said “ I want to have sex with you “

And the kid thought that it meant that
“ I want to go on a date with you “ .
So how do you explain this to a child? Or you aren’t going to explain it? But without explanation what is what , a child can be in a confusion state 😅 . Lol

Their whole life is confusing because their children! Half the time they don't even notice that their confused. Your lucky if your child critically examines their own awareness, few adults do! That's the priority.
On the sex question. Sex, love, marriage, and family are all one big interrelated concept.
Sex is one tiny facet of that, one that many adult women and men give an extremely low priority too compared to other aspects of their life, money, jobs, friends. Why do people stress over kids having a technical understanding of something so loe priority for many adults? Because they are tolf too by the media!
Stop worrying about it, gloss right over it, and another thing. Its not your place to be explaining to them anyway! Your not their Parent! I eould be pissed if someone in my family decided to "explain" dicks and vaginas to my kid just because they heard the word sex. Its crazy. I don't understand what the conundrum here.
If your not comfortable lying to children or limiting their information in this f'd up world we live in today, thet is no way you should even be around kids. Its a fundamental responsibility of raising them up right! They Do Not need to Know everything. Make sense?

its awkward as hell, however keep it simple and in keeping with their age.

factual but safe, along the lines of it is how adults show their love and to have babies.

the reason I say factual, is back in 2019, someone told my daughter that two girls kissing in a film, were confused and lazy as they could not get boyfriend’s.

My daughter then told her, no one was bisexual and other one was a lesbian.
as my sister is bisexual she learned about certain things early but factually.

I have a pet hate about parents and other adults not using the proper adult words for body parts.

I was explained it with pictures (cartoons) when i was at elementary schoold which was kinda weird to me. Recently i read news about a teacher that explained elementary school kids sex with a sexdoll. The problem is that teachers are obliged to taught sex education at elementary school but they are not taught how to taught this to kids. So we have sex education at elementary school and kids also get taught who can touch them etc. to prevent pedos to easily manipulate kids. So your cousin may get taught soon too since your cousin is at elementary school.

I'd tell them that it's something for them to know more about later on.

That way they aren't totally blown off, and they'll know that their time will come to know about it.

They may still be a bit frustrated about not being able to know then and there, but that's the way it is.

Explain that they'll also understand later in life why they shouldn't know at their age.
Hopefully that will set their young minds to wondering about the future, and not about the facts of life.

I'd like to explain why I thought you made a poor choice. Assuming the 9 year old girl already had the "talk", was a bad, arbitrary decision. How do I know this? Because if you had thought this through, you'd of realized that being caught in a "catch 22", was not in our best interest!

I think it's not your job to do so since it's not your child. Other than that, watching those movies with a 9 year old is not the brightest Idea. Consider watching child friendly movies next time since you have a responsibility there.
Anyways, I think when kids get curious it's just better to tell them that the word "sex" is something for older people and that he will find out once he grows, and it's something that only happens when 2 people love each other.

Right now, she probably won't even remember it in a day or so but, if you make a big deal out of it by explaining to her what she doesn't EXACTLY NEED to know, right now, THAT'D probably cause more confusion in her mind! My friend and his wife used to go see R rated movies with their daughter when she was 7-8 years old. He got pissed one time because some woman called them out on taking a kid to a movie that was violent and sexual.
