+1 yOh my god yes! I couldn’t even BEGIN to guess at how many times! Anyway the very LAST time the took my phone away, wouldn’t you “believe” it, but at about 4:pm I was on my way to my one friend who lives in an extreme remote area… I got a flat tire (I guess I must have accidentally run over that knife someone carelessly hammered into my front tire w/ a tool out of the Jeeps trunk compartment thingy)… anyway, I was on an almost deserted road that you need to drive down to get to my friends house, a few people stopped and asked if I needed help but I just left the doors and windows up & locked and said “I’m fine thanks” so at about 11:45pm my friends mom (on her way home from work at the hospital, she’s a nurse) recognized my car and stopped! “OMG! Are you okay? Yes I got a flat and because I pulled it onto the side, the Jack was in mud and just sank in”. “ why didn’t you call for help” she asked “my parents took my phone as punishment!” My parents FREAKING LOST IT! I came came home from school, and after a while I just said I’d be right back, maybe 45 mins, They were concerned when I didn’t come home after the 45mins, very worried when my therapist called to see if I was coming in today, and terrified at sunset when they had no idea where I was! They called all my friends, but this wasn’t a “regular friend” obviously they called my phone, but it rang in moms home office! And they called the police! I just said “Im not the dumbass who took my daughter’s only safety line in cases of emergency as a punishment” (I acted SO UPSET) “So what’s next guy’s, if I misbehave on the boat, will you confiscate my life jacket… anyway, the police need to speak to one of you!” And I headed for my room a deputy responded because I had been reported as missing, and he followed me home, he was also mega cute! Anyway he advised my parents to maybe NOT take a teenage girls phone if she’s going to be driving alone on barely used country roads! It cost me a tire, BUT… they NEVER-EVER took my phone away from me again! I can’t for the life of me remember what I did to lose my phone, put they will NEVER forget the night I went missing! I just thank god I was lucky to have brought some good books w/ me on THAT trip! And YES, I know it was extremely manipulative, but in my defense, I REALLY needed my phone back!

@gwenhwyfar The post above was for you, but I forgot to tag you, sorry 😞
@midnightmoon05 Thanks sweetie, I do try to put a humorous spin on some really not very funny things! I had no idea how long I’d be sitting there, so I not only brought homework I brought a book I needed to read for a book report, and some romance novels! I was absolutely determined to get my phone back by the end of THAT day!

If I were to have those things I would be a genius LOL kids don't understand they got the whole world in their hands when they're holding onto their phone they can learn anything and everything
Now as for my kids they got cell phones and computers.
If they did something wrong I'm not going to discipline them or restrict them from anything.
But what I would do is give them more responsibility I don't care what it is Kids R Kids they come to us as one cell each and every day it doubles. They start out trying to communicate because they watch us do it day by day they learn something today they stand up and take that first step and fall down and get back up and do it again and again and again until they get it right but that means they want something that means they're trying to learn something I don't care what it is in this world did they do it's because they seek knowledge in one form of the other sure they do stupid stuff didn't we all I know I did that because they did something I'm not going to restrict them for wanting to learn or going to even try to get away with something he's going to give them more responsibility you don't need to disciplined in a harsh matter you don't need to take away anything from them that teaches in a whole different thing and I'm not into that I want them to keep growing expanding becoming learning10 Reply
+1 yOh yeah, seems to me that this is a common tactic. I had a single mother. She'd confiscate and even break things all the time, basically had her own tantrums.
Later I lived in a foster family, another single mother parent. She tried to take my phone once, but I didn't let her. Unhappy that she couldn't resort to force, she sent me to another foster family.
This foster family had a father I couldn't disobey, and they confiscated things too. I'm a little grateful to them for creating some sense of discipline compared to the previous two, and showing me what a family actually looks like.
Spent the last few years of 'childhood' with my actual father. He didn't confiscate anything, but it was too late for him to do anything parentally reinforcing one way or the other.
Parental rules are important. If confiscation is what you're going to use as a punishment, go for it, though I imagine a carrot would almost always work better, unless the point of confiscation is specifically to distance the kid from the phone/laptop.10 Reply

Not yet now but ones my mom scolded me saying "You aren't capable of handling a phone" when I touched it only for a minute. They don't take my phone but whenever I'm on phone they will give me tasks so I won't see it. For them I shouldn't use phone for entertainment purpose but only studies. I don't mindle up with studies that is why they haven't taken it yet know but they always expect me to study 24/7 than to hold phone for a second. That is why I'm most active at night because I complete that self satisfaction now. I can only use phone for entertainment purpose if I don't have anything else to spend time with and at relatives home and don't have anything to do.
30 Reply347 opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. Cellphones did not exist when I was a kid. Well technically they existed, but *only* to make phone calls. And only rich people and government officials had them. And coverage was extremely limited.
As for computers, they existed, but home computers made their debut around when I was 10 years old. I didn't know anyone who owned one until I was 12 or 13. My own family didn't have one until I was 19 and attending college. Computers existed when I was a kid, but only NASA or aerospace firms had them.
My parents never took away my toys. I don't think they felt they had any right to. They did however restrict my freedom. I would be forbidden to see friends. I would be forbidden to go outdoors, even in the front lawn or in the backyard which had a swimming pool. My parents quickly realized that sending me to my room was something I enjoyed, so they didn't do that.
I am often curious what childhood is like with cellphones and computers. I never experienced that.10 Reply
+1 yso many times, i lost track.
in Foster Care at 16yo, my foster dad stopped paying the bill on my phone as punishment.
could take pics, but that was it.. no games, no chat, no Face time, no Snap chat, no instagram...
and then he really got on me and gave me a flip phone with limited minutes so he could call me if i was not home when i was supposed to.. sucked.14 Reply- +1 y
That does suck 😢
- +1 y
yup.. foster care is the worst hell in creation. i would not wish my worst enemy be put into FC.. it is all "flowers, bunnies, and unicorns" to the Media and outside world, but in the System, it is lots of abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, and most foster parents only want that monthly check to cash.
i ran away a few times, always got arrested and put back in FC prison.
To me, there is little to no love given to Foster Kids.. we are a burden on the Court system and at 18yo, you are kicked out of the foster home and most of us end up on the street.. as druggies, hookers, and dead bodies.

That’s awful honey. I’m so glad you’re out of that and in someplace safe now.
+1 yOnly once as a teenager did I get into trouble outside of defending myself in a fight at school. That was when I shoplifted from the base PX at age 14. She tried to take my phone, but I had a back up phone from a buddy so I let her pretend she took my phone. Of course there was more to the punishment than that, but for the phone specifically I outsmarted my mom.

Back then we got our asses whipped and sent to our room.
We only had one TV and Stereo combo
It kinda looked like this 20 ReplyNope, never. It was always my property not theirs so they never took it away. They'd rather take away our TV privileges or something like that. If they wanted us to stop using them, they'd just turn off the wifi or something like that.

+1 yPhone and computer? No
iPod? Yeah
Also, Internet was disabled/had parental controls.
Back when I was that young, my phone was a brick slider phone, before that, a flip phone.
Computer was no more advanced, definitely not what computers are today.
Had one thing on my computer that I enjoyed going on there for and that was Tetris.10 Reply461 opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. No, lol.
After my first phone, i started paying for my own devices and i had straight talk... a prepaid service (which they did last) .
We had a family computer so i didn't have one to be taken away.
It also helps that I was goodytwoshoe, lol.10 ReplyHell, I didn't even have a TV in my room.
The usual punishment was to sit on the edge for the bed for as long as it took for me to agree that whatever I had done was wrong. Imagining that my mother would give in before I did was fanciful: better to give up and get it over with.10 Reply

I’ve never been good at phone sex. I’m too awkward on the phone. 😂

Same 😂. The guys seem to enjoy it but I always feel self conscious.

I don’t enjoy fingering myself. It’s just boring to me. Then trying to do that while tell him to jack himself or whatever? Way too awkward. Lol

I’m better at sexting than phone sex cause I’m more articulate and definitely bolder in text. But flirty convos are fun 😊.
Anyway I gtg get up and make coffee. Have a great day!

+1 yYes my phone and we’d argue until like 1am about it. Once I turned 16 and happily got a job I bought my own phone and then it made her mad since it was “her house still so she owned it still”…. yea ok. It just progressed to other things which is why our relationship sucks. She was and still is very controlling that’s why we always fought.

Actually, I didn't have a phone until I bought one around eighteen. Never used a smartphone until fairly recent. Computer, no. Used it mostly for school work. My game system wires were taken a few times, but I mostly did nothing wrong. Never was popular with most groups while growing up.

Mainly, because they would not touch such things anyway.
But my Mom was a modern thinker: she had a table calculator. It would add, subtract, divide and multiply. In less than a second it would give you the result.10 Reply
+1 yI wasn't allowed to have a phone or use the computer. What I got for punishment? I got literally everything in my bedroom taken away by my mom's husband (I refuse to call that asshole stepdad)... literally everything. He would not let me have privacy. He took my bedroom door off.
