Which one you prefer to go on a trip but you won't get paid or to skip the trip but you will get paid?

My brother had a run in with one of my cousins earlier today as we are planning a local trip as a family to our aunt house near the beach. There had been more than 20 years my brother does not go to our aunt house, so he may encouner the highways and roads, shortcuts and all of that stuff is differnet and may be new to him, even if he drives and this time he wanted to go but in order to go he first has to finish some pending dental works he has as he has a deadline to hand in the works. The original plan was and still is to leave town on Thursday so my brother told me and mom: "I will try to finish these jobs before Thursday so we can go to the trip , if I dont finish the works by Thursday then you and mom can leave with our aunt (another aunt who is going and it is part of the group that is going with our cousins) and I will arrive to the other aunt house 2 days later or I can leave the same day our cousins leave (as my cousins leave 2 days after their mom leave).

One of those cousins who will leave 2 days after their mom, the female one got all upset to my brother and in a private message to me told me: My mom won't mind taking you and your mom (my aunt) in their car with them if XXX (my brother) won't take you with him in his car but I know my cousin I do care for him and I love him (my brother) but he always says he goes to this or that place and at the end he is pure blah blah and lies" ,my female cousin said that of my brother she unquoted". My brother was upset taht our cousin is very talkative and real talker, she always has to complain and cuestion things, she can't keep her mouth shut and also my brother says and this is the truth, he says:

"Our cousin has a job where she receives her salary each month regardless if she goes to work or not, cause she works for the public service and she has a job at a public hospital for many years, she receives a steady salary each month, this is not my case.

dont have a boss who pays me regulary each month and I work on my own, Im my own boss, my salary comes from the dental works I hand in, if I dont hand in the works simply I won get paid. So my responsability first and foremost is the job, then it comes leisure and free time, even if I do want to go to our aunts house ause it has been 30 years I dont go.

Our female cousin got upset because my brotehr told her that, for him job is first. Yeah but our female cousin receives a salary each month

month as she is a public servant and she has her job secured at the hospital she works. My brother depends on the works he does in order to receive a payment and also my brother told me that is the reason Im always independent I manage the things on my own and on my own time, I will handle them according to my possibilities.

Employed people have difficulty understanding the problems of independent contractors.

I would balance the expected pleasure of the trip against the loss of pay and decide which was more important to me. I would ignore the opinions of others including relatives unless they were willing to make up my loss of pay themselves in order to enjoy my presence on the trip.

Wise comment. Why you think employed people they ahve difficulty to understand the problems of independent contractors? My brother will like to go sure it has been ages and he also says he wants to go for other things there but the job comes first. My brother did call our aunt first to advise her and explain her the possible scenario if he can't tkae mom and me and he arrives later but then our aunt who is also a little babbler like her daughter (our female cousin) explain to her daughter the situation and is where my female cousin got upset, Misscomunication im sure cause I dont know who my aunt interpret my mom message to her. My mom also let her sister know that she is a bit afraid my brotehr goes alone to that 8 hr trip by himself if he does toknow know ell the road. I mean my brother is an adult and im sure he knows what he does but you know how moms are always precautious of things.

So my female cousin after her mom told her after my mom call (the second call to my aunt) TOLD ME " yOUR BTIEHR IS GROWN UP and adult he will know what he does and your mom is afraid and he has to be careful on the road." No empathy here from my female cousin

I think employed people tend to rely on the benefits afforded them by employment such as vacations, sick leave, and the like, not realizing they actually pay for those things. I am an independent contractor myself, and I only purchase the benefits I need and want. Employed people have trouble understanding that I get a choice in this, and they do not.

My brother last week told us and the cousins he will go sure even to the female cousin babbler but it ws after he told us that one day after tht he got a call that he had some dental works to pick up so he had to change the plans or at least organize himself in order to do the works and go to the trip too. My female cousin who is employed by the public servicves do not understnd that or does not want to understand that, and she says my brother (HER COUSIN) IS JUST A liar.

But my brother works on his own, he does not have a boss who pays him each month or each 2 weeks. He gets paid by the works he hands in period. On the contrary my cousin works for a public hospital, so yes she pays her own stuff that her employer pays her. So she has paid vacations, sick leaves and those benefits are already part of her steady salary. But she receives salary each month or each 15 days. My brother no, even if he may have more free time as my cousin, he does not have like money on hand often. So my cousin believes he babbles too much and make excuses each time my brotehr is invited to go somewhere as he always have something to do.

My female cousin do not understsand that as she is employed by the public service she does not work on her own and still she crticizes my brother beause he always says he goes to a certain place and he always make the excuse at the end he is not going. My brother says there are things that always come up suddenly or maybe he promise one thing but then in the following days things change and he could not kept the promise anymore, my cousin do not understand that or belive it so so sh esays my brotehr is always a bluff, that he always come to the excuse of he has to work in order to skip things. Is my cousin fair to say that about my brother, her cousin also?
