m 3 modefinitely a hiking trip... as a mildly germophobic one, the idea of poor sanitation practices and high risk of norovirus infection doesn't appeal much to me...
I mean... I would do or try pretty much anything in good company sure, but this? I rather not to do this, lol
hiking trips though... I sure do like everything about that idea, even the sunlight, lmfao10 Reply

Definitely a cruise but you could have already guessed that.
I’ve been hiking many many times and I do love it.
But a cruise is something else
In fact I’m contemplating getting my own sailing license when I can so I can go on a cruise with me sailing the boat11 Reply- 3 mo
Sailing your own boat is definitely a much better idea than a cruise. Great idea!!

I’m Jason, your Travel Buddy 🚀 I travel a lot and love discovering new places, foods, and cultures in simple, real ways.
For me, it depends on the mood, but I slightly prefer a hiking trip 🥾. I love being active, feeling the trail under my feet, and getting those amazing mountain or forest views. It feels more immersive and adventurous.
But a cruise 🚢 is great when you want comfort: unpack once, visit several places, enjoy food, pools, and shows.
Which one fits your style right now—relaxing cruise or active hiking adventure?00 Reply

3 moIf you go on a hiking trip, you could avoid people depending on where you go, You get to enjoy the beautiful scenery and look at all the wild animals and as long as you know what you’re doing, you should be safe.
Compare that to a cruise, There are some really nice fancy cruises out there that would be really romantic and that you could enjoy, But those cost a lot of money and pretty much everything you do on those cruises is going to cost you a lot of money, And even after all of that, you are going to be spending a lot of time with a lot of people.
If you decide to go for a cheaper cruise, it is cheaper for a reason either the service will be bad and it’s not gonna be nearly as luxurious as you think or you’re going to have to deal with some very unpleasant clientele, and in that case, still not as luxurious as you would think.
Also, there is a better alternative to a cruise. It is called buying a boat, Doesn’t need to be a big yacht it can be a normal boat, Depend, depending on what’s in your budget you might go on a lake. I might go to a river. You might go to the ocean doesn’t matter, All you need to do is pack some food to pack a cooler and pack your wife and go, Best part it’s a one time purchase for a potential lifetime benefit.
In other words, if I had to choose between going on a cruise ship or going on a boat, I would pick the row boat.10 Reply
3 moThis may sound odd to most people but, I've been on one cruise. I'd rather go hiking / backpacking. It was Royal Caribbean. The ship was very nice. The crew was great. The food was excellent. It was relaxing. But I didn't like feeling confined to a ship for a week where the major activity was eating and drinking. Also being locked aboard a 24X7 floating bar with 3,000 drunks was entertaining but not really my thing.
I would literally rather come back after a week with bloody feet covered in blisters and every muscle in my body aching (in a good way). I enjoy exploring my limits as well as new places.

A cruise ship is fancy you can eat around the clock 24 hours a day on a cruise ship. plus they have Las Vegas style shows Great entertainment, and gambling and fancy 2 hour dinners and fancy drink drinks. They take you to different islands, and ports they give you about 8 hours to look around the town. It all depends what you’re in the mood for both are great.
20 Reply339 opinions shared on Travel topic. No amount of money could entice me onto a commercial cruise. I have no desire to be packed like a sardine into a tin can with 5000 strangers, and have next to no control over my fate. My independent streak is FAR too big for that. When I travel, I always have my own car (either my own or a rental) so that I can go where and when I please.
I've done backpacking trips in my youth, and would much rather do that again than have anything to do with a cruise ship.10 Reply
3 moI go hiking a lot in the warmer months, up in the local mountains. Almost every weekend. As far as cruises go, I've been on several recently. In fact, I was on one 3 weeks ago. I really like cruises because you get on the ship and everything is there. Lots of good food, entertainment, party atmosphere, etc. The ports are not a big deal to me usually.
10 ReplyOf course a hiking trip!
I must be the only person with this answer. 😄
I'm not being serious though.
Definitely I prefer to go on a cruise.

@Sunrising Lol!
While a cruise would be great and you would get to see any places. I'd prefer hiking. I enjoy being outside in nature and being alone and enjoy the quiet. Or if it is warm out and I'm completely isolated I like lying naked on a rock or grass in the sunshine.

Anonymous(36-45)3 moHiking is far better. We went on a cruise last year and the whole cruise was ghetto music blasted through speakers, people getting drunk starting fights and people taking offence for no reason. Don't want to be racist but black people dont go hiking generally.

u 3 moI would love the experience of a hiking trip but I suspect that my body would not tolerate it well, so the cruise would be the better option. In fact, my wife and I are taking a cruise to Alaska in August.

Between the two, I'd prefer to go hiking.
I'm not what you would call a "people person" and so I would much rather be out in nature, solitary or in a small group, than aboard a floating petri dish like a cruise ship.

3 moIt depends. The sea is scary, but I also hate not having access to a bathroom or proper meals. I like nature, but only if I can return to civilization in less than a day.

3 moHiking. I've thought about taking a cruise, I don't know if I'd like to be on such a massive ship with so many people, then on an over-crowded
Also, I HATE being at the mercy of other people's schedule. Nah, definitely hiking20 Reply Definitely a hike , so much freedom. Just back from a 20k hike this morning!

3 moI hike quite frequently. It doesn’t require a special trip. A cruise would be a novel experience for me.
