What are your thoughts on parents setting a bedtime for their kids on weekends?

My brother now has to be in bed by 10-10:30pm on Friday and Saturday nights, and even on holiday breaks. That means computers off by 10 (sometimes 9:30) and in bed 30 mins to an hour later. He still has to sleep by 9 or 9:30 on most weekdays.

It depends on their age obviously, but 10pm is way too late for a 10 year old. They'll be an over-tired, whiney little shit the next day because of it, and it's the parents who have to put up with it. Plus, parents also need some quiet relaxation time, and the only time they're going to get that is after the kids go to bed.
And what is a 10 year old even going to be doing at that time of night? They're not going to be outside, playing sports or doing anything constructive - they're just playing on the computer (not unsupervised at that age, I hope) by the sounds of it.

well , as long as u still live under their roof , then u have to choice but to obey whatever they want
that's why it is better to leave and have your own place asap , if you stay there for too long u will be sooner or later lose your sanity

I think it is absolutely reasonable. Our kids are 7 and 9 and go to bed at 8-830.

I think kids should do chores to be able to stay up later at night

I agree with the parents with once exception. I think on holidays they can relax the rule a bit and let him stay up later
