Does anyone know why Aunt in law stares?

Hey, so basically I'm staying at my aunt in laws place while I visit the country, when ever I come down the stairs or in the room she just looks at me blankly for a little longer than it's comfortable. Sometimes she even does it just blank face, mouth open a little and then looks away. I don't want to ask because it's awkward and I can't speak her language that well and I don't want any confrontation or anything. I thought I could ask on some asking forum what everyone thinks. There's no mental illness involved or anything negative I don't think. Our relationship is natural, no love or hate, we're kind of new to each other as well live in different countries.
Does anyone know why Aunt in law stares?
