What would you think if the guy told you his mother had breast cancer?

my mother who is in her 60's was diagnosed with it a couple months ago and doing various treatments.
i've been spending a lot of time with this girl and her friends but i haven't told them about this , and i'm not looking for sympathy maybe just wanted them to understand what i was dealing with on my family side of things.

My mom had breast cancer 3 times so I can totally relate. I also don't like telling people cause I don't want them trying to be nice to me about it

kind of unexpected as no family history or prior health problems , so one of those unexpected life events you weren't really prepared for
