Tutors in reality don't have to be smart. They just have to retain information and tell it back to people as they teach which many average people can do with enough effort.
It's like how schools tests don't prove anything other than you did better at revising the work but that don't necessarily mean smart. There is a difference between working hard to achieve something or just been already smarter than average without putting in much effort in the first place.

This happens with psychopaths aswell they aren't actually smarter than normal people but they come across that way because the amount of effort they put into everything. Compared to an average joe who would put less into things.
