HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF SHE DID THIS?

New girl at my job, don't know her, but she tries to fit in ( poor thang).
* Keep making these tik-tok jokes I heard from the app bout 1000 times.
* recommend me movies to watch like I asked. ( never did) and her taste in movies are not what I like.
I understand she want to be fun, come as a cool gal, fit in. But my thing is I rather for the person to know me, so they don't assume the stuff I like and bore me with what they find cool. There version of cool is stuff billions are already doing/watching.

My question is should tell her not interested in her so called friendship or should I play along show her what I'm into? What do y'all think?

Doesn’t sound like you’re making it easy to get to know you. Remember you were the new guy too at one point, so maybe have some empathy rather than write her off for trying to befriend her coworkers. If she’s making bad movie suggestions then why not give her some good ones? Or if her jokes are annoying then tell her a better one. If you aren’t interested in any kind of friendship then that’s fine, and just limit your interactions to only work related. But you don’t have to embarrass her by giving her those mean reasons as to why you can’t be friends. You both have to work there and you’d be making it very awkward..

When 1st worked there I gathered Information about them and used it to my advantage. They come to me play music on radio like I'm there dj, I know what foods they like and make it, movies they watch they act it out then I play the part. I study what they do and get to know them. Not assume this what world watch and know so this person should definitely get picture. No. And no I'm not interested her friendship. Not taking time to know me, just rubs me wrong way. Now I gotta take more time show her. This generation. Well this is an eye opener.

I think that’s great that you take the time to get to know people down to the foods they like, a lot of people such as myself appreciate that sort of effort. At the same time though, I know not every operates the same way, or thinks to do the same things, so I don’t take it so personally. What this coworker is doing doesn’t sound like she’s making assumptions and creating a narrative as to what sort of person you are and what you like. It honestly seems like she’s trying to share her own interests with you and has no idea you are insulted by that. She can’t get to know you if you aren’t sharing your interests with her or engaging, so even if it’s a thing where you don’t care to be her friend, you can’t knock her for what she doesn’t know she’s doing wrong.

I think that’s a great choice. You don’t have to be best friends or anything, cordial at most. But at least helping the interactions run smoother would help for you both, because I do think she means well, just not going about it in the best way. Also, no worries.
