How do I spare my friend's feelings about experimental psychology?

so i am retaking the performance based experimental psychology exam which is like a week away and one of my friends want to be subject, as per requirement

the thing she's not smart enough and i am afraid with her performance rate, it would take too much time and effort on my part as as experimentor as if the trial fails again and again, the result sheet gets longer and calculations become harder and more graphs are drawn. how do i tell her she is not smart enough? i am taking my mom instead, because the subject needs to be biologically female and mom has got the street smarts going on...mom is perfect cuz she's not smart enough to do it under 5 trials and not weak enough to make me do over 15 trials... she's just not available due to her job... so i am lying to her that my friends are useless...

what do i do to spare the friend's feelings?
