I start college (online only) and I'm not excited, what are some ways to make online college fun socially?

Okay so I just graduated high school and I have to start college. Initially, I was supposed to go to my dream university. I had already got accepted and everything. I was under the impression that they were going to be returning to a face-to-face model. I was super bumed out because the university is out of town and I have no type of living arrangements. But, the university has dorms. Now, I brought the idea of the dorms to my parents and they claimed "I wasn't ready" Whatever that means. Now, I have to go to an online school (a very sketchy one I may add) that literally, nobody knows about. When I asked my guidance counselor about it, she didn't even know what that even was. The school has no social media and barely a campus! I'm so angry because college was supposed to be the time for me to be social because I wasn't in high school now I'm going to be stuck in the house all day for 4 years. I'm so stressed! Any tips?

I was teaching in 2020 when the college decided to switch to online instruction. I think it was a complete waste of time. The students really did not learn anything and put very little effort into it. I know that some had cheated on the exams as well. I did not fail anybody but I probably should have.
You really should rethink this while plan. If I was your parents I would have you take the year off, get a job, gain some maturity and hopefully in a year the college of your choice will havelive-liveinstruction

I did college online and I loved it. I got my Bachelor of Science from online uni. It did have its downsides, but I made sure to stay social with family or friends. I made friends online too.

How did you make friends online?

We had an opportunity to talk with the other students to give feedback on their works or scripts, films/videos, and give them feedback on their observations, etc. During those times or for projects to work on we could reach out and that's how some of us became friends. Most of the classes were my friends because I was a nerd LOL. But, really, I just knew my stuff.

I fear that my class is going to be filled with old people tho. See my country is small, so there are only three universities. Everyone flocks to the bigger modern uni, and the old people go to the one I'm going to. But anyways thanks for the suggestion

No problem! That's how it is all walks of life. You will get used to it as they're in there for the same reason or if not different.

Try convincing your parents and ask that they can add their conditions if they want, you'll have to live with them of course
