Do your parents double call you if you don't pickup within an hour?

How does it work with you and your parents? Do they expect you to call them back within an hour of them calling and get angry if you don't, or do they just keep calling until they get ahold of you, and they're not angry about it.

My mom used to be like this, calling every single day 2-3 times a day. She never called to be buddy buddy with me, she would call to keep close tabs on what I was doing as a way to "parent" me from a distance and to share her gossip about other people. She was very controlling an codependent growing up and was afraid id become my own person if she didn't speak to me daily. She even called the police for a wellness check after being mad that I didn't pickup... the day I worked 8 hours an had 3 papers to finish as if i hadn't talked to her the day prior. Thats when I finally had to set some boundaries and have a stern convo.

I ended up having to "train" her to only call me once a week. I would ignore a call, then shoot her a text at nighttime saying "hey i had a busy day, ill talk to you on Tuesday" or something like that (to let her know that I have a life and its not going to be spent glued to the phone with her) . I also told her she can text me if she needed something like a Netflix password or some cash or whatever. She used to call for petty little things. Her phone calls were basically to gossip and keep track of every tiny thing I was doing. Seemingly cute to other people, but a codependent parent is like dealing with a toddler. If there were an emergency my siblings would call me since 3 of them (college students) still live with her. But since I managed to contain her to once a week its been a lot better.

My Dad rarely calls. Like once every 4 months.

That's an interesting and helpful strategy you used. That's sad about your dad though. He calls you only every third of a year. Even someone like me knows that life is too short for that kind of thing.

My mom doesn't call me, I have to get to her and if she does I mostly pick up
In my teens she did call multiple times when I was at a friends house and not back home before it got dark

I do have more than one number and contacts so... the most personal one is the one my parents have (family, best friends and partners) and this is the one they use to reach me

and I always answer any text or call as soon as I get it and if I have the time, I NEVER avoid people when I do have the time, and if I am busy I make the time as possible

when I cannot respond, they give it a couple of tries more within seconds or minutes, or switch from calling to texting, or vice versa

if is not an emergency or not so serious... they just wait to another time on the day in which they could think I have more free time, or they just wait till I contact them back myself

they never get angry... lol, never have, they are just not like that... and if it is an emergency or very serious, I usually get multiple calls on all lines and devices from multiple people as well... and for those I always respond immediately because our level of "this is serious" down here, is not a thing to ever ignore, lol

I don’t really have a whole lot of contact with either of my parents, but my wife is definitely the call and call and call and call until the phone either runs out of battery or she gets what she wants.

I never had to worry about that. Even when I was living with my future ex-fiance, mom might call every great once in a while and just leave a message if I wasn't home and, had no reason to call back before got hold of her hours later.

Sometimes yes. It can get annoying for us but they mean well and shows they care because why aren't you picking up. So it's best to just let them know where you're at or try an text them I'll call you in a bit so that they know you are ok

Yeah, it's hard sometimes when I don't even hear my phone when I'm out, and then drama has to happen.

Well, my father passed away, and mom lives with me, but YESSSSS, I LOVE her, and she can be EXTREMELY ANNOYING!🙄 God Bless Her! I KNOW she means well! BUT SERIOUSLY! SOMETIMES!!!😬😖😳

Usually my parents text first and then call a couple of minutes later. If I’d not pick up they then text asking if everything’s okay.
