Do you hate gossiping?

Question

I literally feel physically and mentally uncomfortable every time I hear someone gossiping. But I feel like everyone enjoys gossiping. Is there anyone else who hates it?

Why do you think I have such a hatred of social media? My own mother used to sit and gossip with her friends. I am a quiet person. Normally if I can use 100 words to describe something I will use 50. In the past, the only time I wanted to know about a person's history was during the vetting process in the hiring process. Outside of this I really don't give a shit! Don't get me wrong. If I know a person has a history of being a damn liar or a cheater I will not even share a table with them. I won't allow them inside my home or vehicle. But, for a person to just sit and blubber on and on about some other poor soul actually bores the hell out of me!

Yes, but unfortunately, you can't really stop it. You CAN, however, get creative with it- I once managed to convince some of my more gossipy coworkers that our boss that was planning on selling nuclear secrets to North Korea (because a general manager at a local fast food chain is TOTALLY going to have that kind of information). It helped that I got him to play along, and openly practice his Korean in front of them while keeping a locked briefcase handcuffed to his wrist.

i used to gossip, but it made me feel like a trash individual, So i stopped, i have come to understand words have very strong forces behind them, so if i am thinking something rude, i tell myself to keep my mouth shut.

I absolutely hate gossip, and nowadays the guys are just as bad as the girls. On my job gossip spreads extremely easily like wildfire - even when it's been about me. There's a reason why I tend to be quieter than other people on every job I've been on because I know the nature of workplaces, and you figure out really fast who the biggest big mouth and gossipers are, so you know not to say too much to them.

At my job there's this group of negative Nancy women near me. I sit by myself away from them and I can hear their conversations easily. They talk shit about patients, coworkers, etc and it's super annoying. I try to zone it out and work on coding on my laptop in between when each patient arrives.

Yeah I don't like unnecessary gossip. It's being cowards talking shit about others behind their backs.

Everyone on here hates gossiping.
BUT I once met someone who use to complain about gossiping but soon I found out she was in the middle of all the drama in our small community.
So yeah people say they dislike gossiping but I don't believe them.
Because when you get angry/bitter enough, you may forget you hate it.

Depending on the subject, some gossip is benign and doesn't hurt anyone. But I assume you're talking about the kind that gets people humiliated or in trouble, or people saying things which they promised to keep in confidence, which yes is bad.

i used to be okay with it, as long as i wasn't actually in the gossip and just observing it. but now i'm just completely over it. my work has a lot of drama and it's ridiculous. like grow up. go to work, get your paycheck, go home, you know?
