as in gay couples adopting kids or using surrogacy. not to biased, but i feel like heterosexual parents are way overrated. love and care is most important.
The orientation of the parents is irrelevant. Are these individuals emotionally intelligent? Financially competent to combat the rising costs of raising children? Are they capable of providing a structured and nurturing environment for a child to grow and thrive?

TITLE: APA on Children Raised by Gay and Lesbian Parents
SUBTITLE: How do these children fare?
On the basis of a remarkably consistent body of research on lesbian and gay parents and their children, the American Psychological Association (APA) and other health professional and scientific organizations have concluded that there is no scientific evidence that parenting effectiveness is related to parental sexual orientation. That is, lesbian and gay parents are as likely as heterosexual parents to provide supportive and healthy environments for their children. This body of research has shown that the adjustment, development and psychological well-being of children are unrelated to parental sexual orientation and that the children of lesbian and gay parents are as likely as those of heterosexual parents to flourish. In 2004, the APA Council of Representatives adopted a policy resolution including the following statement based on a review of the best available science:
There is no scientific evidence that parenting effectiveness is related to parental sexual orientation: lesbian and gay parents are as likely as heterosexual parents to provide supportive and healthy environments for their children (Patterson, 2000, 2004; Perrin, 2002; Tasker, 1999); See the full Resolution on sexual orientation, gender identity (SOGI), parents and their children (PDF, 99KB) [SEE LINK AT BOTTOM, abc3643.]
APA has continued to monitor the research since 2004 and report that research in our amicus briefs, such as in the Gill vs. OPM case. On the basis of the research, APA continues to oppose any discrimination based on sexual orientation in matters of adoption, child custody and visitation, foster care, and reproductive health services.===============

33 ReplyAbsolutely against. The problem to me is the hypocrisy of it all. We know that if you choose a homosexual lifestyle, you let go of your right to have biological children of your own. Why then would you want to take children that came from heterosexual encounters, and then instill your ideas into them? To me that's hypocrisy, and it doesn't make any sense.
Also, it doesn't stop here. I wish the limit would be for those that adopt. They try to spread their agenda into school so now the children that have heterosexual parents also have to get the same ideals due to the education system, and if you don't want your kids learning that then you are a "bigot" and a "homophobe" and whatever else. Not that those people who criticize this behavior do so because they are religious, but they always say it's out of hatred or spite. I don't hate anyone, but I have red lines and those red lines shouldn't be crossed. If you don't stand for something then you will for for anything. And don't worry about the foster children, there is no shortage of heterosexual couples ready to adopt them as they are the majority, so the kids will have a home.
If you DON'T want to have biological kids, stay AWAY from kids. That's the bottom line.
434 Reply- +1 y
Literally none of that makes sense.
What hypocrisy?
Since when homosexuality is a choice?
You know that some heterosexual couples don't want or can't have kids right?
You know that they can have children of their own right? Many gays do and not by adoption. Artificial insemination is a thing.
What is "gay ideology"? - +1 y
@This_Is_My_Opinion8 Some heterosexual couples do not want to have kids, yes. However, they can and they may change their mind. Homosexual couples do not even have the choice to change their mind because they just cannot have a child with someone of the SAME gender.
Artificial insemination means they are getting the gametes of the opposite gender, so that still is equivalent to heterosexual mating all while the other spouse will not have half of their DNA in the child.
Also, there is no such thing as the gay gene. It has not been proved scientifically that someone is born gay, so yes homosexuality is in fact a choice.
The ideology I was talking about is that we need to be "tolerant" and "inclusive" even if it goes against our religious beliefs. If you don't believe in religion, that's your right. Please don't force that on anyone else, and we don't force religion on you. That point I mentioned is especially critical in schools when the woke teachers are trying to tell everyone's kids what they should believe without having any respect for the parents wishes, which is absolutely inappropriate. - +1 y
Of the same sex no, but so what? Why is that an issue?
Same question as the above.
Wrong. There is no straight gene either. So is being straight a choice? When did you decided to be straight?
I never chose to be straight, I simply am. Just like homosexuals simply are.
So... your problem... Is that you want the right to discriminate others.
This is mind blowingly stupid. Is like asking for the freedom to take freedoms away. That's not how things work. - +1 y
@This_Is_My_Opinion8 No, see what you're doing is a strawman argument. You're argument is based on denial, rather than proof. There is literally no scientific evidence of homosexual tendencies being linked to hereditary factors, so you cannot tell me that people are "born gay". That would be just as absurd as someone saying black people are born criminals. That's racist to say, right? Because it's just not true. Humans are social creatures, and depending on our environment we can adapt and change our mannerisms.
There was a study however that conducted that homosexuality could be linked to trauma at childhood related to sexual assualt. Here:
news.vumc.org/.../
I'm not at all excusing it, and I do feel sorry for anyone who has to go through anything like that. However, this is not at all related to genetics. Please don't use the expression "they are born gay" because nobody is. - +1 y
So your argument as to why people can't be born gay like they are born straight is simply because... Nothing. You didn't gave an argument addressing that.
The premise is simple. No strawman here.
1. People are born straight.
2. People are born gay.
Why does 1 is true and 2 isn't? Simple question that you didn't answer.
You said that there is no gay gene, but there is no straight gene either like I said previously. So what really is your point?
Key answer "could".
Facts don't care about feelings. They are indeed born gay and it's not because you don't want that to be true or to hear it that it becomes any less true. - +1 y
Gay people exist since human existence. We know this. It matters not what you think. They can indeed raise kids. Their kids are "likely" to be straight. It's just a numbers game. To say Gays aren't born that way? You haven't taken the time to talk with a gay individual, much less, know that the likes of Michael George, Elton John, or the most fantastic SINGER OF ALL TIMES is Freddy Mercury. To tell me these FLAMBOYANTs wake up and decide to be that way? Bull shit. What about Mick Jagger, what about David Bowie? Straight up BI!!!

I knew the Left Bent Media and Hollywood is against Orangeman Rad. But, the Enquirer to plaster every aisle with anti Trump, being mentally insane. especially in a RED AREA? Trump is very cognizant. - +1 y
@Datboi65. Mostly agree. But there are gay parents who adopt children from broken homes or orphanages. Pick your poison but that environment can be hell on earth for some kids. If the gay couple are otherwise decent people I guess thatās a better alternative.
But what about when your straight kid hits puberty and you have to explain to them about sex? Very awkward scenario there for gay parents. Very awkward role models as well. Thatās not homophobic either thatās just hard reality.
But the QAās comment that āheterosexual parents are overratedā was such disgusting stereotypical woke bullshit. That line really pissed me off. - +1 y
@RangerBlue22 literally any couple can deliver hell on earth to kids. Gay parents statistically don't perform any worse than straight parents.
Why is it any more awkward to explain sex as a gay parent than as a straight parent. Literally no one wants to have that conversation.
In fact both straight and gay parents, if they do a good job, will teach that anyone can have sex with anyone.
About straight parents being overrated, they are parents. No more or less. - +1 y
@This_Is_My_Opinion8 you cannot realistically tell me that when all else is equal that having gay parents as role models is āequalā to having straight parents as role models.
This whole argument is based on assuming the kids are always coming from dysfunctional situations with straight parents and the gay parents are somehow more noble just because they are gay. Like a progressive family is somehow always better. Thatās the screwed up woke mindset of where the QA is coming from.
Yes there are situations where a kid comes from a very screwed up family or is in an orphanage. I could see having two consistent parents gay or not being a much better alternative. I never debated that.
However I got a feeling we are going to see more and more after effects from this gay parent experiment since itās a new concept. Itās not going to be positive either. - +1 y
by the way my ex girlfriend had a father who was trans (MtoF). She acted like this was no big deal but in reality she was VERY screwed up. On three different psychiatric meds, been committed to a psych clinic a few times, etc. I found out all about this a few months into dating her.
Is that the fault of her dad? I canāt say one way or another. But having a really weird and confused dad as a role model growing up either. But in the woke society we live we canāt say anything about that can we? But if he was normal straight guy who was just a irresponsible father (alcoholic, negligent, etc.) then it would be completely fine to come to the conclusion that he had a very detrimental impact on her upbringing. But since heās trans we canāt point that out because that might be transphobic and bigoted.
I can see gay parents who screw up their kids using the same excuse. Since they are progressive you are supposed to give them a pass on everything. Criticism and societal judgment will be downplayed. - +1 y

- +1 y
Biden reigns simply because of Big Tech and Media seclusion. The stats are there. If America knew about Hunter, that was enough in and of itself to tide the turn. Besides the Fraud, besides everything. If America knew it all? That alone would have supplanted Biden, who tried to do it in the late 80's. That fucker tried everything including plagiarizing. He should have been person non grata. Why the fuck did Obama need him? He didn't. Obama was so popular he could have run with me on his ticket. Obama is quoted as saying he will fuck up everything. Biden does. Obama is shitting in our face. Because he truly runs us into the Ground.
Eh, complicated answer. It is biologically proven that one male and one female biological parent is ideal. It's how we evolved for millenia and cannot be beaten in an ideal situation. But there are complicating factors like parents can be neglectful or abusive, sometimes they die, and sometimes they abondon their children or are not allowed to care for them for whatever reason. In those cases, the ideal is no longer possible, so we just want the best possible situation for the children. Same-sex parents might be good solutions to help with that, as long as they are aware of their own limitations as parents. For instance, if both parents are male and they adopt a girl, they'll need to make sure there is an aunt or some other strong female role model in addition to them for their daughter. And lesbian parents who adopt a boy will need to make sure there is an uncle or someone as a strong male role model as well. While there are limitations, same-sex parents are still statistically better than single parents. Obviously, single parents deserve a ton of admiration and respect, ut 2 parents are still better than one for many reasons.
The only other downside to same-sex parents is that homosexual people deal with a higher rate of emotional trauma and emotional disorders that might negatively impact their parenting, but once again, we almost never actually get ideal situations. Same-sex parents who suffer from depression but are trying their best are a hell of a lot better than neglectful straight parents or no parents at all.215 Reply- +1 y

So, you haven't answered my question.
Dude, I am giving you the opportunity to prove your point. Take it.
Meanwhile, millions of years of evolution only show us that, in sexual species, you need a male and a female to engage in some form of gamete exchange.
As for RAISING offspring to adulthood, that is a completely different issue.
So, what you need to show - by whatever evidentiary means available - that opposite-sex couple parenting is better (and how is "better" measured) than same-sex couple parenting for the success of the offspring.
Again, dude, I am giving you the opportunity to prove your point. Take it.

First, an admission: I, like you, and millions of others, used to believe just what you do.
But, as a STEM professional who literally gets paid to be critical because it saves lives, I have to keep an open mind on things and demand proof, logic, and evidence about assertions. This is why I gave you the opportunity to convince me which you haven't because you haven't provided any evidence.

Now, here's where the skepticism and "due diligence" comes in. Should I take the APA's word for it, because they are an "authority"? No, although they should be respected. But, the APA knows that we shouldn't take their word for it either, so what they did was provide in their full statement

How Does the Gender of Parents Matter?
ABSTRACT:
Claims that children need both a mother and father presume that women and men parent
differently in ways crucial to development but generally rely on studies that conflate
gender with other family structure variables. We analyze findings from studies with designs that
mitigate these problems by comparing 2-parent families with same or different sex coparents
and single-mother with single-father families. Strengths typically associated with married
mother-father families appear to the same extent in families with 2 mothers and potentially
in those with 2 fathers. Average differences favor women over men, but parenting skills
are not dichotomous or exclusive. The gender of parents correlates in novel ways with parent child relationships but has minor significance for childrenās psychological adjustment and social
success.

Anyway, by analyzing 48 studies on these issues, what the metastudy concluded was that there is no significant discernable difference between successful parenting regardless of the sex of the two parents.

But I'm on this app casually. This is the first I've looked at my notifications since before Thanksgiving. I have a life outside of here. I encourage you to not waste your time doing academic research, typing small essays, and talking to strangers (like me) when you should be having fun or maybe publishing your research! I used to be like you and try to have academic debates online, but it's tedious, and most people can be so rude about it (not that you are). It's just exhausting and wastes precious time. @abc3643 āIt's ideal for procreationā. Along that note what are gay parents are going to say go their straight kids when they hit puberty and start wondering about sex? Very awkward scenario there.
So is the gay parent is going to say āWell Johnny when a man loves a woman he will make love to her and he will put his penis into her vagina and that creates a little baby. Now some people are different. You see your other father gay Bob sometimes out his penis into my anus. That doesnāt create babies though. Bob and I are different.ā Ah yeah very awkward there indeed.
And donāt call me āhomophobicā either. Thatās just the cold hard ugly challenge a gay couple will face when their straight kids comes of age.
With all that said I do think a gay couple adopting an orphan from a very screwed home or an orphanage isnāt a bad alternative. But gay men using surrogate mothers or lesbian couples using artificial insemination to create their āown childrenā is opening a huge can of worms down the road at some point. - +1 y

+1 yI don't care. I just think it's important for children to see a healthy relationship modeled by adults.
If two men are married and adopt a child, I think it's important for that child to see the men demonstrate what a healthy relationship is and how men are supposed to act. I think it's important for that child to also have a positive female adult around. Doesn't have to be in a heterosexual relationship, but any adult female who they can look to for how a woman should act. It's important for juvenile males and females to see how both sexes are supposed to be as adults.
Like this is what a good man/woman is and this is how a good man/woman treats others. So that child can grow up and know how to act and what to look for in a future romantic partner.
21 Reply- +1 y
@Speedydude not how that works. For those to work there has to be a father, who is absent. The issue is when the child is ignored. If there is no father to be absent to begin with, no problem.
+1 yI Think that any child raised by loving, caring, nurturing parents is extremely lucky! Anyone who is so small minded that they believe gays should not be parents, are just small minded bigots, not worth my time! I am so blessed to have so many friends from such diverse backgrounds, or who are completely different to me because I learn so much from them. Anyone who follows me, knows that I have a trans best friend, well I also have a best friend who was adopted by two gay dads! She just joined the air force rather than going straight to college after school. BOTH her dads served in the armed forces, and she is the most beautiful, sweet girl who is so loved, so smart, so incredibly independent and courageous, I both admire and respect not only her, but BOTH of her dads who saved her from a life of likely being abused in foster care!
10 ReplyI have seen horrible M & F parents so Iām not against this. In fact most of people donāt agree with this because religion has poisoned their soul and mind not to accept gay or any LGBTs.

Research has showed gender or sexual orientation of parents aren't relevant for a child to have a fulfilling upbringing and are just as likely to flourish as children of heterosexual parents. If you think about it, children are children. They need love, affection, care, guidance, time. They don't care what's inside the pants of the person meeting their needs.
10 Reply I think it's a horrible idea. I have no dog in the western fight. Humans have debated for thousands of years, what the best way to raise children is. We concluded across all cultures that a man and woman were the best predictors for a productive and emotionally balanced child.
But degradation is the current state of affairs in the west so we are all going to discover together how and why societies crumble when we move away from these norms. Let gay couples adopt and let us watch together and relearn why it doesn't work.

I believe the least you can do is to be respectful in your challenge, I would greatly appreciate that.
Now to answer your question, I would respectfully ask you to open your eyes. Every single culture around the world uplifts male and female relationships as the backbone of society.
Now since I've said every single culture, it's now down to you to provide evidence to the contrary. That should be easy for you to do. There are currently more than 100,000 separate cultures around the world. I ask you to name one that was built on homosexuality?

You claimed that heterosexual relationships were the best for a "productive and balances child." I was expecting a study to confirm that. Because, and leaving emotions out of the way, just because something is being currently done, in many cultures and for many years, doesn't necessarily make it optimal.
O am curious because in other comments people left scientific studies that indicate that children raised by homosexual parents don't have any indicator inferior to the ones raised by heterosexual parents.
I am a man of science I respect peer reviewed papers and the scientific method is the best way to get feeling out of the way and find out facts. So I am curious to see what scientific studies you can provide. - +1 y

Again. I haven't a Dog in the fight. All I know is that every religion known to man has outlawed homosexuality.
You're a smart man. You know how evolution works right?
Things that are beneficial are kept. Things that are useless are tossed away. If over thousands of years humans have come to the conclusion that homosexuality should be outlawed and 'God' hates it, then as someone who loves anthropology, I'd reason that this is an evolutionary adaptation by societies fighting for self preservation. It was probably hard wired into religions so that they don't fall victim to forgetting lessons learnt in the past.
I don't need to provide you studies,𤦠you're think over the short term (micro), There isn't any running studies that span the length of the start-end of a civilisation. (Macro)
All I know is that, common sense will always win. I look around and there are no homosexual civilizations. If it was a working model, we'd have it.
Nations have always and will always be built off the backs of communities, communities are built off the backs of families, families are built off the backs of the joining together of man and woman.
Again, Never in the history of civilisation has homosexuality built any sort of civilisation, but we know from religious text and civilisations like the Roman empire or Sodom and Gomorrah, that homosexuality tends to be present right before the death of an empire.
Again, do what you want. I haven't a dog in the fight and I couldn't care either way. This is a battle for heterosexual traditional western men to fight. Good luck to them. Thankfully where I come from we don't have this problem.
Kind regards, - +1 y
Religions are based on imaginary entities. That's not worth much.
Yes I know how evolution works. Evolution doesn't work in a literal way. There are many things that we don't need that we still have. You have literally a nerve on your forearm that if you take out nothing happens. A vestigial structure.
Why we still have it? Regarding evolution, if something doesn't composes a problem it stays. That nerve is not necessary, but doesn't constitutes a problem either. Homosexuality doesn't present a problem, so every single animal, even insects and fish, have homosexual behaviors today.
Studies don't need to be civilization length to be viable. But if you want we can look at old civilizations. In ancient Rome, one of the biggest empires the world has ever seen, homosexuality was common. Nero, the emperor, married 3 men.
That is a common argument, that doesn't make a lot of sense. Having homosexual couples in a society, doesn't prevent that society from having heterosexual couples. Why one thing excludes the other?
Homosexuality didn't build any civilization, but murder and assassination did. Is that the reference? If it was part of an ancient society, then is right?
Besides there were societies fully based on polygamy. So poligamy is acceptable to you?
That is not a problem in western society either. It's already acceptable to be homosexual and that is not a problem at all. Only a few have a problem with it, but they will soon be gone. - +1 y
@This_Is_My_Opinion8
I honestly can't muster up the energy to care enough about homosexuality and the decline of western civilization to care. Infact, I champion it. May you continue, with your husband, to adopt as many children as possible. Please. The world has had enough of the western system.
Go in peace and enjoy yourself. - +1 y
I am married to a woman. Doesn't change the all the facts I said. Facts don't care for feelings and you yourself said to leave them out. Yet you are trying to resort to meaningless insults.
Don't worry, we are in a moment of transition as a society, but we will emerge stronger than ever.
Children needs both a mother and father figure, while sexual orientation can't be controlled, it can be influenced during growth. For me, being hetrosexual, asexual or demisexual are very preferable for sexual orientation, no offense for homosexuals, but it's so much better liking the opposite sex.
Don't go around adopting when you can't provide what hetrosexual parents can, homosexuality shouldn't be even known to kids. I only knew about it at 13 and accepted it so I think it's for the better to pass preteens before getting to understand anything related to word "sex" except gender awareness01 Reply- +1 y
According to studies done on the matter there is nothing heterosexual parents can provide that homosexual parents can't. Literally children raised in same sex households don't fall back in any metric when compared to children raised by heterosexual parents.
+1 yI don't know you tell me. What does it mean to be for and against? Protests? Going out of my way to either protest for or against?
If that is such then I must not care what they do. But I do feel sorry for the kids just as i do for single parents kids lacking opportunity, a child learning what a good woman and man is from their parents is the preferred choice, at home, they learn from young, what they are seeing everyday.
Hetero and homo couples can both be bad or good people. When did I say otherwise?
You can bet though that homo couple will have a lot more difficulties, WHY? because life is already difficult and harsh toward what is unnatural. In nature, the odd baby in the litter is sometimes abandoned.
Amd the parents difficulties affect the child.
00 ReplyI'm for it. Like I have to tell everybody and their son. I'm not religious. I'm not anti Gay, even though as a practice, I am as far right as Steven Crowder on most shit. Gay people can live freely. That is PARAMOUNT. That is what makes this Country the Greatest in The World. We do everything whilst not jeopardizing any right that indeed surpasses Separation Of Church AND STATE. Too many are hung up on that. Besides the 2 greatest Amendments that is Freedom of Religion, and Freedom of To Bear Arms. SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE IS PERHAPS THE MOST PARAMOUNT!

There is one other thing that Gays teach us. They just don't wake up one day and decide that. They are born that way. But, we must fight for kids to not take the life altering decisions when it comes to puberty blockers or sex change. It's a fact, many or the majority of the times, they out grow it. How many gay guys said they "THOUGHT" they were Tranny, to find out later they simply were gay?
+1 yAs a single heterosexual man going to use surrogacy, I think they are brilliant. I am very thankful for homosexual couples. Without them creating the need for demand for surrogacy, I would have to get married, and most hate me.
So now I don't need a wife and can just pay for single-man surrogacy. I know I am going to be a better father on my own.

+1 yWhy would someone be against any child having a loving home? I personally know several same couple families who have adopted some traumatized middle aged kids out of foster care. Iāve witnessed them grow out of their shells and turn into some streetwise, but truly caring people. Just because they are now in a permanent and solid space with people they can rely on.

It's never a good idea, because it goes against the norm of family structure instituted throughout the world in every culture. Homosexuality is a personal choice just as you choose what to wear. Now, I knowledge the fact that there are rare cases where children are born with either both male and female organs or some variation of that, but in general, men don't choose to be men nor do women choose to be women. It is a natural thing. It is natural because our reproductive organ complements each other. And the reward for that are children in the process. And the children learn from that family structure how to navigate life without some of the heart aches and stress we can encounter. I know having a homosexual parent would only add another layer to that stress in children. Somehow, we as a society must change our minds on that subject or there won't be a future for our children. No children are produced through homosexuality.
- +1 y
@Tijie2015 your norms are abnormal. Thereās no such thing as objectively normal.
- +1 y
@HippieVeganJewslim Agreed.
+1 yI'm for it. If they are going to be good and loving parents, but also provide a good and safe home for kids, what's the issue?
Some people are obsessed with this idea ''kids should have mum and dad, not two dads or two moms'' but the truth is kids need families (talking about adoption). Gay or straight family, it's better than orphanages and foster homes. A gay couple can provide kids the loving home they need and deserve, just as a straight couple can.

+1 yI think that the way the system weighs heavily towards heterosexual couples based on their heterosexuality, as if it contributed somehow to a healthy environment for the kids is disgusting.
I also feel that religious based adoption agencies excluding homosexual couples based on their sexuality is disgusting as for every couple who is fit and wants to care for a child that is denied, there is a child (or multiple) who is doomed to be stuck in the foster system, which despite the efforts of those on the ground, has lackluster results. They are subjecting harm to children simply to enforce their own hate... I also have some serious questions of legality if they are receiving a single red cent of taxpayer money in the process.
Children are not pawns, most of them just need a decent place to land, and group homes are less than ideal.

+1 yDon't care, as long as the kids are taking care and not pushing societies made up bullshit.
That bullshit fucks up a kids head faster than drugs.
For example
Political shit
Being a Karen
And other crap
Teach the kids how to survive in wild without Internet, cellphones, how to start fires, how to find food, how to build shelter, how to make money, how keep a job, how to do math in their head, how to be independent
Shit like this
I don't care if straight, bent sideways or a full blown flamer. Teaching kids and setting the example is the point I'm trying to make.
So two dudes, two chicks or a man woman combination, as long as they get the job done.
That's all that matters

+1 yI'm for it, but at the same time. I'm not for making adoption agencies go against their beliefs if they are against it, such as if they are religious agencies and it goes against their values.
Forcing them to, would just force them to shut down and not subsidize adoptions, make them more expensive.
Using surrogacy usually isn't a problem.

+1 yWhy would someone not be okay with it? Genuinely curious. In my opinion, I think if a homosexual couple wants to have kids, there is no reason they shouldn't be allowed to, as long as they can provide for their kids and raise them in a safe environment.

20 ReplyI told agree with your comment about once a child is loved and cared for, the make up of their family should not matter. I am not saying that there is no bad gay parents but I am definitely not saying that all hetro parents are good. My country had a referendum that granted same sex couples the same rights has hetro couples in everything legal and the sky has not fallen in.
10 ReplyWell, according to statistics (williams institute)
in 2016, there were 705,000 Same sex couple households in the USA.
359,000 were female/female, and 346,000 were male/male.
roughly 49% of the male/male and 52.2% of the female/female were married
Only 28,000 male/male households were raising children compared to 86,000 female/female households.
These numbers have only increased since that last research, especially in regards to the female households. Roughly 55% of gay marriages are female/female today, and a similar number of gay households.
If we look even further into the Gallup Poll, or the CDC.. Roughly 15% of all women, and 5% of all men are LGBTQ. I am certain many of those are wanting to raise children as well. If we go further, roughly 25% of women, and 10% of men have some sort of homosexual interest.
I would say they are capable of raising children.. Not much research shows anything significantly negative.
10 ReplyChildren need love, nurturing, parameters, discipline, freedom to make mistakes, education, guidance, advice, friendship, safe spaces, trust, affection, smiles, laughs, stability, play, fun, safety, just to name a few.
Any couple of whatever sex that's willing to provide that for their kids, then I am absolutely for that.
(That was a long-winded "yes" to your question.)
10 Reply535 opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. Back in my day, that would've been hell on earth for the kid when she has to go to school and face the inevitable bullying. It's not as bad these days with people being a lot more tolerant for this sort of thing. There are still places where it would be torture though.
10 ReplyStudies actually prove kids born to gay or lesbian parents actually do better in school than kids born to heterosexual parents.
The reason is due to financial stability. Gay parents who can adopt and have kids tend to be more financially stable and educated. Financially stable parents can afford to send their kids to tutoring or elite schools. Poor parents are less likely to be able to do that
00 Reply1.7K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. Parents are defined by two people, in their Natural form and function, purposed a human Life. Same-Sex relationships are incapable of this, therefore, there is no such thing as Gay or same sex Parents. Babysitters or Keepers yes but definitely not Parents.
01 Reply- +1 y
Biological parents and actual parents are not the same thing.
Adoptive parents can be amazing parents and probably better than the biological parents that left the child for adoption in the first place.
That and relationships are not about reproduction. They can be, but they are not defined by it.
Still regarding biology, every single animal in their world, from insects to fish, has homosexual sex.
+1 yI think a parent needs both parents, with that said, if single parents are allowed to adopt (which Iām not saying is always the case) then I think you could argue they donāt necessarily have a father figure (or vice versa) so if weāre going by that standard, a loving family would be better than living in a home or unfit parents
01 Reply- +1 y
I think a kid needs both parents, typo lol
+1 yI'm against gay people getting kids. I just don't trust that sexual deviants aren't gonna take one more step towards molesting the kids. I also don't think it's a good environment for teaching them to be a functional man/ woman in society. We shouldn't be normalizing these deviancies, it just emboldens the next fringe sexuality/ fetish to push itself onto society.

+1 ySomeone's ability to raise kids isn't driven by their habits in the bedroom. There are plenty of crappy parent out there. If someone is going to give a child a loving home, the time they need and the emotional support they need what does their sexual orientation have to do with it?
10 Reply 1.1K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. I'm against surrogacy in general. To me it doesn't matter if we're talking about a heterosexual couple or a gay couple. But I'm for adoption for both. There are so many children who need love, a family and a home.

+1 yI'm not totally against it, but I see a number of real issues that present themselves, so. So much depends on who the parents are and what their beliefs are, and what they're going to teach the kid, and how can you determine that? How can you determine what your standard hetero couple is going to teach their kid? Tough call.

To all those "for" it, have you considered the feelings of the child? What it would want?

Well, the fact is that
The majority of gay marriages/households are female, 55%. That is according to the Williams Institute
Also, the majority of the LGBTQ community is Female, with roughly 15% of women, and 5% of men being LGBTQ (according to the CDC, and also Gallup Poll).
Should also be mentioned that the far majority of gay parents are female.
Something like 5 times the amount of lesbians have children compared to gay men (according to Williams Institute).
In 2016, for example there were only 28,000 gay male couples with children compared to 86,000 lesbian couples.
So statistically, you are more likely to have lesbian parents than gay parents. - +1 y
In the Netherlands its even far more extreme. The German group Dalia did a Europe wide investigation of the LGBTQ community, and found that LGBTQ women outnumbered men throughout the continent.
The country with the largest LGBTQ community was Germany
But the Netherlands was particularly lopsided
with roughly 10% of women reported being LGBTQ, and 2.5% of men reporting to be LGBTQ.
Though Marriages were more close in number with roughly 21,000 Lesbian, and 19,000 Gay marriages in Netherlands by 2021.
That is the reality in most countries though.
Most show higher numbers of LGBTQ women (often nearly 50% to 100% more LGBTQ women)
Slightly higher numbers of Lesbian marriages vs Gay marriages.
Much higher numbers of Lesbian couples have children vs Gay couples - +1 y
^ should also be mentioned that Lesbian marriages are BY FAR the most likely to end in divorce
with roughly 26% of ending divorce vs 16% for straight couples, and 14% for gay couples
That is likely a reason why Gay and Lesbian marriages are fairly similar in number, but the LGBTQ community is dominantly female. It seems that marriages between 2 women have the highest failure rates, nearly double their male counterparts. - +1 y
@SparkyDi Despite you quoting facts and figures, it does not alter the fact that I would hate having same sex parents.
