On Dec 29, 2022 the Brazilian soccer legend Pele died of bowel cancer. However, his mother is 100 years old and is still alive. I doesn't know her son died.

If I make it to 80 I will kill myself! It's not that I don't enjoy my life now, but I imagine the next 36 won't be so good.

Some 80 year-olds are healthier than others. It depends on diet, genes and lifestyle. It's likely the lady had a very good life.
I don't want to think what could happen once she finds out about her dear Pele's death; she might likely have a heart attack I suppose.
