Question for mothers and fathers at what age did you start letting your daughters date?

Mine were never super strict.

I was dating guys starting about 14. As we all turned 16, we were about to drive and go out more.

Only restriction was they would not let me go to visit my boyfriend who was one year older than me at his college until spring of my senior year.

Well according to my husband our daughter will have to be at least eighty years of age before he'll allow her to have a boyfriend!

I seem to remember my own father saying something similar, and look how wrong he was! lol

My parents were never strict with this, but they were strict on not allowing them to come to the house ever. I was 13 when I had my first kiss and my first boyfriend. My parents had no interest in meeting anyone I was involved with.

For my daughter, I would be okay with her having a boyfriend at 13, but I would have to meet him.

I was doing things with boys around age 13 and officially allowed to date where a boy could come to my house and pick me up at 16. I had sex when I was 14 and my sister did when she was 13 but we had to sneak around all the time until we were 18.

I told them maybe 18. They of course were dating prior to that as they were at school and their mothers seemed to be okay they dated earlier than I had discussed with them.

It caused a few issues and concerns as well as the need for updated sexual health questions and understanding and protection.

I had learned by my early life of dates and sex it wasn't such a good idea and wanted to allow my chip to be kids as long as possible.

Ours is 18 now and still only been on one real date. Her group of friends seem to do most everything as a group. She is off to college this fall (Aug 15th actually) so we shall see what changes.

I would think 15 or so but i dont have daughters
