New parent... how long does being overly tired last for?

Pretty much until they are grown up. When they are older you run them to sporting events and school functions and other extra curricular activities. Then when they get older and can drive themselves, I you wait up until they get home and worry if they are safe. Then they move out and you still worry about them until they settle down withba family of their own to worry about.

When you retire, you can catch up on your rest but grandchildren will run you down too except you can send them home and get some rest.

The baby will sleep longer and longer through the night.

By 6 months the baby should almost sleep through the night... definitely by 8-10.

Then you can get a full nights sleep.

I have a 13 year old, 3 year old, and 1 year old. The sleep deprivation went away with my oldest when she was 5 and started kindergarten. I'm back in the exhausted boat too. I imagine that it'll disappear again once my youngest is 5 and in kindergarten.

It never ends. Even once they are older and sleeping through the night then you stay up all night worrying about if they are okay. Im 9 years deep into sleep deprived. It's rough but worth it to make sure my babies are safe

My son is 3 n half, daughter is 2. I'm still tired. Almost sleeping through the night, still wake up at 6am

Oh no. I figure 2 babies at that age will do that. I'm investing in iron pills vitamin c and b12 hopefully that helps with energy

It starts to get better 2-3 months when they can go for longer periods of sleep without needing milk. You got this though! Its rough at first but it gets better.

It will last at least until the kids are in school. Then only u will have Some hours of the day where u can nap. having a child is very tiring and time consuming. So u need to expect not to have a proper rest for years to come

18 years on average. Raising a child into an adult is a lot of work, stress, time, and money. The worst will be the baby and toddler years though.

Or maybe they are good parents and can teach their children how to behave properly so they aren't tired all the time. Not sure why you think everyone has to be tired to be an effective parent. Sounds like if you're overly tired because of your kids, you're doing it wrong.
