My adoptive mother is asking me to pay all the good deeds she did to me?

My adoptive mother is demanding I should give her percentage of my salary for taking care of me and spending money on me. When I refused she told me shed show me a receipt of all she spent on my college tuition in public and all expenses she she spent on me. Should I pay it all?

She adopted you and raised you for her own reasons, and there was no reasonable expectation of pay back.

Not a penny. She said to pay her back for every good deed she's done. But anything you do expecting a reward in exchange is not a good deed. So tell her you will pay her for a good deed if ever she actually does one.

@Daniela1982 If she did it expecting a reward, then yes, I don't consider it a good deed. I consider it an investment. You can do good things for bad reasons just as easily as you can do bad things for good reasons.

I can't believe that entitled little brats wouldn't help their adoptive mother out. And the people who call her evil probably never appreciated the things their parents did for them either. Most kids take care of their parents in old age. But not the people on this site apparently. And, adopting a kid so they wouldn't grow up in foster care houses must mean nothing either. No one even thinks of all the money it takes to raise a kid these days. She could have done a lot of things for herself but chose to see that someone else had a good life, unappreciated as it was. Heck no. A mother (adoptive or not) does those things because that's what mothers do. Besides, there is no contract you signed where you requested her to do certain things that you would pay her for later.

She didn't have to pay for her college either. Maybe her mother has come on hard times and has no money. It would be nice for the daughter to show some appreciation and help her mom out some. I mean isn't that the reason some people have kids? To take care of them in old age?

If this is the appreciation adopted kids show, then screw that! Leave them in foster care and let them fend for themselves when they get kicked out of foster at 18. Ain't no foster parent who is going to pay for their college education. They will have to get their asses out there and pay for it themself, or probably wind up as a single mother with an abusive boyfriend. What goes around comes around.
