Very few. Used to have several but marriage and kids limits the time you have (in a good way). I’ve kind of become like a second mom to some of my kids’ friends too so maybe that counts haha

Usually I made my friend in school like most of us.
When I moved to the Southeast I made friends at work and one neighbor. The people there are so helpful and friendly. I don't know what I would have done without them in my life at the time.
I had to move back to the West and did I ever get a nasty surprise! The women out here we're not friendly like in the South. I tried to be friendly with them at work, but they had their own click and wouldn't let me in. I acted the same way with them as well as the southern women. Finally after a few weeks I went to lunch one day and didn't go back. That's how bad they treated me. I think it was because I came from Tennessee, so I was an out cast.
Maybe it just depends on where you live as far as making friends. People get jealous very easy too, then won't befriend you if you have more than they do.

Yeah, I got that feeling from those women where I quit the job. That's exactly how I felt. I had to leave. I am very caring and a good friend to have. In the Southern States, that's how they are.
I don't know how you'll make friends if they have put you in a place where you feel like you're behind enemy lines. They must be jealous of you and your degree's l, your summer house, a good wife and family, a great (expensive vehicle), you are smart - you are perfect. People used to tell me I'm perfect and that makes them uncomfortable for them to be around you because, naturally, they are comparing themselves to you. It doesn't matter how nice you are, when you're out, you're out with maybe all of them there. Sounds like they have a click too and only certain people can get in. Like I said, I just quit because it was stressing me to go there everyday and be treaded so unkind.

@7Phoenix7 Not really, but sometimes friendships can be fragile... or not. One long term friendship I had with a married couple ended because of alcohol, and pot smoking. Another ended, sadly, for the same reason. He became a chronic drinker, and she did not like it and that drove a wedge between them and he started messing around with other women, and of course we all know how that ends. She tried to stay over with me one evening and I wanted no part of getting between them and our long term friendship vaporized also. As of now, I have no 'friends' that I spend time with, and of course, that is not good either. My dive buddy,, a good friend, died of cancer, before COVID struck, and during that period, I lost several persons, relatives and friends.
I am active socially, and not a recluse, I have YOGA and my music people, at Huntington Beach Music Center.
