Why do I barely have any memories of me as a child?

I always hear about people who have the best memories from when they were kids. I can't remember much. I remember very well the day I went to meet my little brother at the hospital when he was born, I remember not liking school, I remember being bullied but that's pretty much it. If someone asks me the best memory of me as a child I can't think of anything. I wonder if something happened to me that made me forget everything.

Im not saying that this is 100% the case, but usually people who can’t remember their childhood have had something traumatic happen as a child, blacking out their memories. I’ve met many people where this has been the case, and there are many studies on it. Trauma, whether severe or minor, can make your brain do that.
That’s the only reason that I can think of as to why you’d have no childhood memories. But im sure that there are less-serious reasons out there.

If something traumatic I can't even remember honestly. Makes me sad.

I sorry you can't remember much of your childhood. I can remember some really messed up stuff when I was younger a lot to do with my mother. Therapy has helped me but I still have anger.

Either you have a bad memory or there wasn't much good that happened in your childhood. Don't your parents have pictures and things like that? Maybe you can look at them and remember some things. Or maybe you need therapy to deal with the past.

They do but I can't even remember taking those pictures.

Oh that's sad. I have so many memories from my childhood and most of them are very happy :) Now that I'm in my 30s it is fading a bit but in my teens and twenties I could remember my childhood so well. I still have like the most important memories but the in between the more everyday things I can remember less and less. Maybe you should keep trying to understand why you can't remember anything maybe there's a deeper thing that needs to be unraveled :)

I can remember waaaaaaay back. It’s fun sharing those memories with my kids. My ex and I spent LOADS of money on our kids, and they can’t remember shyt. “Dad, can we go to Disney someday?” “What, we’ve been there twice”!

Not sure, but I think its not uncommon for that to happen.
