My mom said that “ nobody likes you and I only like you because you’re my daughter”….

I have always gone through life feeling insecure and I always felt she was very right.

I was never a bad child or teen… never got into trouble… not saying I’m perfect…

Awww I’m sorry to hear that, your mom is foul for ever saying to you as her daughter. No mother should ever feel or say that to her child but she the kind who don’t deserve to be a parent and just like you, I wasn’t no bad child or teen coming up either, I have a narcissistic mother and she did a lot of worse and said horrible shit to me I’ll never forget that I might can’t say to keep track of.

No kid should have to hear that kinda thing, especially from their own parent. I can see why it would really mess with your head and make you feel insecure. But you know what? She was dead wrong to say that. There's gotta be people out there who do genuinely like you for you. And even if your mom struggles to show it, deep down I'm sure she cares about you too in her own way.

Just try not to let what she said define how you see yourself. Easier said than done I know, but you deserve to feel good about who you are. You seem like a good person who cares and doesn't cause trouble. That alone means you've got good qualities for other people to like. Moving forward, make an effort to fill your life with friends who make you feel appreciated and seen for who you are on the inside. Don't waste time worrying what anyone else thinks. You got this! Her words don't have to have power over you forever.
