Does your cat truly love you?

I think mine does. When tabby first moved in he would sit beside me as I worked and if I went downstairs to the kitchen he would follow me down and back up. He still sits beside me as I work and he is always at the door to greet me when I come back after being out but that might be just to demand food. It is hard to tell.

Cats are self oriented but I think the burden of probability is he loves me and it is not just about the food.

Yes, I’m the only person that she shows affection towards, she barely tolerates being in the same room as other people unless I’m there. She always chats away to me, I talk to her like I would a child and she makes noises back. She’s great for support. She knows when I’m upset, and she never leaves my side when I’m crying, or when I’m physically sick and stuck in bed. She kills things that I’m scared of and nothing more - I have arachnophobia and she’s always on the look out for spiders to eat or squish for me. She never hunts birds or mice. She also snuggles up in bed with me to watch TV, I see her watching the screen haha.

That certainly seems like love. Extremely cool of her to take care of the spiders for you. There are claims that whilst dogs can read our faces, cats can't but I don't think that is true. If there is a loud noise he will look me straight in the eyes to see if I'm startled/concerned. At times when I've stub my toe or otherwise hurt myself he shows concern. If my housemate is upset or sick he tries to make it better. Your cat is certainly reading you and giving you love when you need it.

My cat is a talker too. It is quite nice of them that they don't talk to other cats but they make the effort to communicate verbally with us.

Yes. The great thing about cats. As long as they are fed and healthy they could go out and only come home to sleep and eat. If they choose to follow you outside in the garden or sleep in your lap thats feels like he does love me as I love him. ☺️

:) I'd be happier if tabby didn't like going to sleep on my lap... top. I don't know what Microsoft was thinking of when they put in keyboard shortcuts for cats to invert the screen upside down. I suppose he wants to be close to me so I can't be mad.

He'll start off logging beside it then front paws go onto the edge and imperceptibly he moves more and more across the keyboard. Forget to put the lid down for a toilet break and he is lolling on it when I get back.

I've been gone and out a lot more and longer as of late, and they're eager to see me come back (fed by others so it would not be that, lol)

My cats loved the fact that I recued them from the shelter and provided them with a pretty good life. All they had to do is keep the mice outside and not poop on the floor.
