I let my daughters choose when to stop. My oldest breastfed until 4 years old. My youngest until 3 years old. They ate solid food and they gained comfort from it mainly as a tool to go to sleep so at nap time and bedtime. As opposed to a baby that is like every 2 hours. It's not a big deal. And I like to think I gave them a good start in life. And also, men love my boobs now. Is my best feature! So no harm done there either!

Most children ween themselves once they are old enough for solid food. But the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) writes that 2–7 years old is the estimated “natural weaning age for humans.” And I read of some women continuing to allow breast feeding into a child's teens.
So I don't know. I guess it's an individual choice.11 ReplyWhen I was growing up, my best friend's older sister was breast feeding. She didn't stop until the baby was in kindergarten. She must have liked it. Who am I to judge, good for her.
If a woman wanted me to, I would love to do it and I'm almost 30.
People really need to mind their own business. If you like it, do it.
30 Reply508 opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. No! I've seen only one lady do that and her son was almost as big as she was. She just laid back with him on top of her feeding. I wonder if they ever stopped?

My Mom came to America during the depression and she said she's been depressed ever since. 😅😂🤣
+1 yFive-year-olds are old enough to eat food, so they wouldn't need breastmilk anymore.

Do you know breastfeeding is more than just food.
It’s also a way for kid to bond with mom - +1 y
Also breastfed babies have a lower chance of getting cancer over non breastfed babies

@JacobJordan But the kid isn't a baby anymore.

So? Does it hurt anyone?
+1 yWhat do you mean okay? Morally okay? I think it is a personal choice and if no one is getting hurt who cares.

Ah fair. Well my opinion is as stated. Personal choice and long as no one getting hurt.

"Milk" teeth are the first four at the top and bottom. Then the first "Deciduous" teeth - eye teeth and molars come through, at which point the child should be weaned by anyone not wanting to be a chew toy for an id on legs.00 Reply346 opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. The child will probably be bullied and made fun of at school. Maybe all through his school years. If his friends find out he gets his milk directly from the spigot, at that age ! Not much different than drinking from the bottle at that age. But as you said. More bonding from mother to child.

+1 yI've seen 8 or 9 year olds possibly even 12 year olds breastfeeding. Their mother never bothered to stop them and has always taught them that, if they feel the need, go for it!

+1 yYeah that's fine. At 5 I don't think they're getting much nutritional benefit from it anymore, but its not going to hurt them either.

u +1 yYour job, as a parent, is to help your child to develop into an independent and self-sufficient individual. Breast feeding a five year old sounds counterproductive to that goal.

+1 yBreast-feeding usually ends when the child gets their baby teeth... beyond that it's painful for the mother as the child clamps onto her nipple. That usually happens by the time the child is two. Five is a bit old to breastfeed.
00 Reply Sure. It doesn't hurt anything. That's around the age most children start weaning naturally. They will begin loosing their milk teeth soon.
10 ReplyI think so. I was breast fed until I was 18,, and wet the bed until I was 25... so... there you have it. Permissive parents !
00 ReplyI honestly think 🤔 by that age they should be eating solid foods also kids at age have a full set of teeth I can't imagine that feeling nice.

+1 yno. Unless he's starving and you have no other nourishment, a child should not breastfeed after 18 months
