I was a single mother for 6 years with my daughter before I met the guy I would end up marrying two years later. He took to Lexi the very first time he ever met her and the more he was around the closer they became. First thing he did after we were married was go to court and legally adopt her (and god help anyone who tries telling her he isn't her dad) and the love they have for each other brings tears to your eyes. She is now in college and it is dad who gets those ever so often evening phone calls. Sometimes she might even ask him how mom is doing. LOL

My daughter is grown now but we always spent a lot of time together even when she was younger. It doesn't matter what we did as long as she was with me. I'd be sitting on the couch watching tv, she'd come in the room and cuddle next to me. She is engaged and living with him but she still calls and says " hey dad let's go to the movies ".

My son is a few years younger than my daughter but he was always a mommas boy. He had no interest in spending time with me.
