How come my friends can give me a straight no but when I say no I have to explain myself?

It’s the people pleaser in you that makes you feel as though you have to explain your “no”, when you really don’t. Just think about if you said yes, does that ever require an explanation? Nope! So try not to obligate yourself to explain, and if your friends pressure you or make you feel guilty to say no then those aren’t your real friends. You’re never giving them a hard time and that’s why they can give you a straight no, so you should have friends who show you the same respect. Its called boundaries.
