Has anyone here managed to find Irl friends as an adult?

I’ve always been shy and moved around a lot as a kid. I’m very self-conscious when meeting new people and find it hard to put myself out there.
Has anyone here been the same as me but managed to get a friend? I sometimes feel defective but lonely for being this way.

Two years ago I got two new friends, and got to become friends with their friends.
So now I have 4 new friends

No, my friend hosted a pre-party, and someone we knew a little invited someone they knew, and he invited a friend of his.
And I ended up talking with those two that evening.
The next day, my friend made a group chat, asking them if they wanted to become my friend 🤣 (because I was too shy to do so)

I have found friends in activity groups. I play bridge seriously and here in Seattle it's a pretty close group.
