1 yOddly enough, I didn't want kids until I was past 35 and saw a good friend become pregnant and a parent. I had a lot in common with her and thought if she could do it, I could too. So a few years later I did.
But having children is not a requirement and if you don't want to do it, you should not. I have a few friends who haven't and they help we folk with kids and help our kids too. It's good to have those friends who can lend support because they aren't involved with their own kids.
Also, some people live through their kids, always a bad idea. You gotta foster them, then set them free. Let them do their things and wish them the best and support them in positive ways. Just like YOUR parents did for you, hopefully.
I had great parents who wanted my brother and me. I always felt included in our family, but also knew my parents were the nexus of our family and we were secondary to them. Their relationship was No. 1. We were never neglected, were well-loved, cared for, and learned positive discipline. That's 90 percent of what kids need. We also had excellent grandparents, a GIANT bonus and good educators in grammar and high school.
It takes that village and without it, child-rearing is a burden. But if you're well situated, you get good joy from it too!

1 yNo.
I don't want to have to clean up messes, I hate bad smells, I don't want to suffer from irreplacable property damage to my stuff, I don't want to lose any sleep, I don't want a reduction to my free time, and I don't want to be in charge of anyone, pay for anyone else, or worry about anyone else doing stupid things.
There is also the possibility that they will be nothing like me and we won't get along, and normally I just shut those people out of my life, but you can't do that with your own child.10 Reply

1 yNo, never did, never will. Too much responsibility that I and my S. O. don't want. You should NEVER have kids if you don't know for damn sure you want them, and how they will consume your life for many years going forward. Kids are not a requirement for a good life, nor are they for everybody.

u 1 yMost of my life, I really didnāt want kids. Being told that I was infertile and couldnāt have kids also reinforced that āno kidsā mindset. But over the last couple years, my mentality on it has changed, and despite what I was told medically, I fell pregnant. It was definitely a shock and not intentional, but it couldnāt have happened at a better time. My partner & i canāt wait to meet our baby soon.

How wonderful I am so happy for you, God bless you, your partner and your baby.
1 yNah. After years of babysitting nephews and cousins, I've determined I am only suitable for short term care as opposed to 24/7 responsibility as a parent and I don't want to be the kind of dad that makes the mom take care of the kids all the time.
I'm also Autistic and even though I'm low support needs, there's a good chance I'll pass it on to my children and they could be higher support needs which I don't think I am equipped to deal with. Plus, with the sensory issues and some potential trouble with emotional regulation isn't a good mix.
My other reason is that I plan on owning a 1940s-1970s home and have lots of expensive vintage furniture which not only will I want to keep it nice, there's bound to be Asbestos and stuff in a house like that which I don't need kids messing with that.10 Reply1.1K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. We're already blessed with having our two planned and extremely precious and cherished children... Thank you.

1 yNo, because a woman will just use the kids against me. I wouldnāt be able to afford to pay child support. Iād end up in jail. And the only way to have children other than adoption is to have sex and Iām both asexual and aromantic. Better not to have kids.

1 yNo, I wouldn't want to have children, too much responsibility, knowing that another being's life depends solely on me, it makes me uneasy to have them

30 Reply I never wanted kids when I was younger. Then tried unsuccessfully 3 times. Now, I doubt it is in the cards. How about you?

If it happens it happens. I can't honestly answer that question. My mother went into premature menopause and I could well be the same. And if that's the case I might well not be able to have children through natural childbirth. My point being I can't afford to make that my priority in life.
