My friend asked if we are both still single and no kids by 2026 would I be opposed to planning a baby with him. What’s that about?

I think he either loves you but he's afraid to say it. He might think you'll reject him. Or he really wants to have kids but he's single.

I had a friend telling me almost the same thing, except for kids. But the difference is that I know he wasn't serious.

he may be desperate. not trying to sound rude to you at all. but, when someone just settles and has a backup plan like that, it's usually the case

Taking your age range into consideration, if he has no kids or his kids are bigger, then he probably wants to experience fatherhood now that he’s older, but without the strings attached of also being in a romantic relationship. Personally I would decline. More than anything because it’s not that serious for me to have kids, but also I’m no one’s fallback plan or last resort.

I had a guy friend like that years ago and cut ties with him after that suggestion. I found it offensive, like I wasn’t someone he actively wanted to be with but if he was still single in a few years then let’s have a baby. It’s like huh? Way to make someone feel like some last ditch option.
