My father is 47 and already a grandfather of 8 year-olds, isn't that young?

I (31 F) married for 10 years and our twins are 8 years old.

My father is my mother's exact age; just 4 days younger than mom. They're still together. They got married young when I was 3 years old. He's now 47 years old.

I still can't believe he was just 39 years old when he became a grandpa for the first time. Isn't that young? Then again he was very young when my parents had me; both were in HS. He still looks younger than his age. Wow.

your mom and dad had you as teens. they were teen parents. obviously this makes mathematical sense to be a grandpa that young especially since his daughter had children young too...

True but that's not the norm. When I had our twins, I was done with my 4 years of college and ready for a family meanwhile my parents were just 16 year-old minors, who were living with their parents at the time.

Already? Were they not born 8 years ago? Conceived some 9 months before that? Is this not old news? Girls who have sex can get pregnant. They made an entire MTV series with multi seasons and kids about it. Your father is not unique.

I know but it's hard to believe dad was just a kid (just like mom) when I was born. He might not be unique but isn't expected age nor the norm.

Yeah indeed. They were just 16 when I was born. Both were still living with their parents, who were helping a lot too.

Just our girl twins. After the c-section, I don't want anymore kids.

I was 23 and already done with my 4 years of college.

Oh, ok. My dad is 6 was 38 when he and my mom got me. I was adopted.

again, not really that uncommon. lots of people do have kids young.
