How do I make new friends after moving?

I moved from ohio to Michigan a couple of months ago and i haven’t made any friends. I just feel sad because my old friends were supposed to keep in touch and I feel like theyre ignoring me 😭. I’m just a little upset and i miss my old home 😔

The trouble with friends (Not always it must be said) after a move is they are only interested in you IF it benefits them.. So if they get to see you, they keep in touch.

The thing is, it's now time to put them behind you as you move into a new chapter in your life. You could have a loo around at your neighbours to see if you can see any children your age playing. If so, you could introduce yourself as just moving in.

You could also look up on google for sports, recreational and clubs for your age in your area. That might also be an option.

Failing that, you could use the fact you currently have no friends to your advantage. That is, you know you're going to be starting a new school following the Summer Holidays, and you could use that to get ahead of the other kids, by brushing up on all the key subjects, so when you start, You'll find it easier than anyone else. (Contacting the new school, and asking for a heads up on what will be studied next year would benefit you greatly)

I would just like to say though.. Yes at 13 had someone suggest to me I did the above, I would have told them to get lost.. So I am more than OK with you telling me the same lol.

It's just I play a lot of Chess, and believe in turning everything that happens negatively wherever possible into a positive, and making sure you are leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else will give you an immense feeling throughout the year.

Coming to my final point, if you have confidence in your work, that confidence could help you make friends easier too.

You learned a valuable lesson. It is hard for someone as young as you. Most people are not your friends, just a familiar acquaintance. Look to school for new people.

Sorry you're friends you left behind aren't bothering you, but unfortunately that's what happens, people get caught up in their own lives and they move on. I'm going to give you the same advice I would give to my 13 year old sister. It's important that you be yourself first, don't try to impress anyone just be you! What do you enjoy doing? If reading maybe join a book club? Whatever you enjoy doing I'm sure they have a club for it in your new school. You'll have plenty of other people that you'll have something in common with. If anyone tries bullying remember that there can be no bully without a victim. Be confident in who you are! Have you been able to meet anyone in your new neighborhood? I wish you the best!!

Walk to someone and introduce yourself.
