How do you know the time is right to start trying for a baby?
There's a few things I'd consider to know if the time is right for a baby:
- Are both you and your husband truly excited and committed to becoming parents? Having a baby is a huge life change and responsibility, so you should both be 100% on board.
- Do you feel stable and ready to focus more on a little one than yourselves? Babies need you to put their needs first for a while.
- Is your relationship in a really great, communicative place? Parenting can bring up stress so a strong foundation helps.
- Have you established your careers and saved up enough that one of you could potentially take time off without stressing about money? Maternity leave, daycare costs add up.
- Have you traveled, done bucket list things you wanted pre-kids? Babies change your freedom.
- Talk with close friends with kids too for their honest advice based on what they've learned.
- Consider your ages too - being in your 30s provides more stability than early 20s usually.
Don't feel pressure from others, know yourself. When it feels completely right in your hearts that there's nothing left you need to experience as a couple first then you're probably ready! Always better to be 100% prepared emotionally and financially.
You don't and you can't prepare for it. So don't try.
That is prepare but don't wait for the time when you're ready. Because I PROMISE you you'll never be ready.
When, you don't have to ask the question, “Is the time right?” You both agree that you want a baby and try for one.
If you have to ask yourself, it isn’t the right time.
