My parents taught me to treat others how I would want to be treated.

Morality. The pitfalls of bad character, getting into smoking or drugs or not controlling your drinking, degenerate sex with anyone and everyone.

Also, they didn't spoil me so I didn't grow up expecting to get gifts all the time and to get my way. I grew up valuing money and not being wasteful. They taught me to invest and about compound interest and how money/wealth will grow if you budget and regularly put money away for the future.

That's how my wife and I have already paid off our home and have lots built up for the future.

Put yourself before anyone. Back in the days I used to think my mom is selfish for that, to consider me great than other children and she used to be a bit mad when I would compliment others like 'you're the best'.

But then I understood that I'm the end, they'll lose contact some day or another. And only to keep them before myself if I'm sure I'll see them in their deathbed or vice versa.

My parents taught me to be independent, to know and learn the things in life needed to be a productive member of society. This was summed up in their philosophy of parenting, to make parents unnecessary ss the child gets older, which my then-wife and I followed with our 3 kids.
