All my 28 year old son ever does when comes over is start political debates then suddenly in a sudden huff when he looses them. Even though his mother is a leftist and she does everything for him and lets him live with her. He refers to his best friend's (lets call him tom) family as his chosen family which is loves more then his real one.

A couple of years Ago Tom's Grand father rang me to ask if I would rewire a car winch he made into a lift. he was dying of cancer with less then 2 months to live and the lift was the only way he could get in and out of his house. So I went straight out to fix it for him free of charge. I didn't know I had a hole in my jeans and Tom's grandmother told Tom's Mother who told my Son that she saw my Penis. My son told me off months later for it even though It was inappropriate for them to say that to him. I bet Tom would not like me telling him I saw his Mother's Vagina especially if he went out of his way to help my family like that.

I'm so disgusted in my Son that I can't stand to look at him any more so I told him not to come back until he has grown up. Did I do the wrong thing?

i don't know a lot of fathers with good relationships with their sons. my neighbor is the only one.

but i feel like we're missing a huge piece of the puzzle. i don't know what it is but it might be why you and your son suddenly had a break up. it sounds like you like a little pol debate yourself?

my suggestion to you, is to talk to him like an adult. have a heart to heart with him. that's when he learns that you mean well and have his back. he probably hates himself for not doing something with his life. he might hate having all these thoughts in his head? you won't know until he tells you.

find your heart and be more loving towards him.

@Sevenpointfive Your right about liking a political debate myself and I have debated him in the past but when he started getting upset then I just tried to avoid politics all together with him. For the longest time I haven't valued his opinion on such matters. But in the last couple of years he would make comments on Social Justice and I would reply with like "Well I really don't want to go there ok" But yeah It would seem that there is a huge piece of the puzzle missing, Maybe to the point of being unbelievable to some because I can't understand this situation.

do you like chess? i feel like a fair game is in order to straighten this out. you can have 1 minute to talk about anything at all. and when that minute is done, regardless of the midsentence, you have to stop and let him have his minute. debates are about listening and understanding.

i'd start that talk/debate without any alcohol/weed involved. that's just a situation that i know personally with my own father and i had a lot of misunderstandings and it didn't stop completely but it helped. (no accussations. level heads right)

Even though your son may be a libtard snowflake, he's still your son. Tell him to grow up and act like a man, and part of acting like a man is realizing the world has never been a fair place and there's no sense in struggling just to struggle. Tell him if he can't treat you with respect in your own house then it's time for him to leave. If he comes over he should just hang out and act like a son, and not try to debate you on his stupid political bullshit.

@staximus I've struggled to defend him to my family which unfortunately doesn't like him. He doesn't like 75 year old mother because a couple of years ago she said she didn't like homosexaulity and he took me by surprise when he got angry because at me last week because I said I wasn't into the anime genre. I don't even know how not to offend him.

Sounds like he has some kind underlying problem in his life that's causing these she management issues and it's making him lash out. Maybe he needs to talk to a behavior therapist or psychologist. A good one that focuses on behavior issues. Not a psychiatrist who just cops out by prescribing drugs and saying rookie shit like "take these pills and see if you feel better" before figuring out what is causing the behavior.
