I just got an interview with Goldman Sachs, which feels like a big win because landing a job there is as tough as getting into Harvard or Yale. It's pretty exciting, honestly. But the thing is, this job would mean seriously long hours. My wife and I are expecting our first child soon, and she's already juggling her full-time remote job. She's really hoping for a setup where I'm not always buried in work. Even my dad mentioned one of his biggest regrets was missing out on our childhood because he was always at the office. Despite these concerns, I can't help feeling thrilled about the chance to work with some of the best minds in my field. It makes me wonder just how far I could go with this opportunity because I am talented at what I do. Are there any considerations that I should ponder on?
It's a matter of priorities. I had employment that allowed me to take parental leave when my first three kids were small and I spent a lot of time with them, time that you never get back once they're older. I think it was the right decision for me, but everyone's circumstances are different. You may, for example, have a financial imperative to do so.

Well… there are always compromises…working like a slave with these firms generally are for newly graduates…no families and obligations…they put their lives in for 2-5 years.. make the big bucks, get the name and experience then they get out…
you can discuss these with your wife…with the opportunity and money…hire a helper part-time for 2-3 or 5 yrs… get the name done, the experiences and save up then move on.. kids don’t really need you so much first 2 yrs…by 3 and up…definitely spend quality time…not quantity time.
Nannies are great. If you pay high amounts, you can find a high quality nanny.
In that situation, no. As a young single I would have jumped all over it, just for the experience alone. And yeah, from what I have heard, they work people to death.

Will your boss at Goldman Sachs be at your bedside when you take your last breath?
Just the cost of being alive is ridiculous, adding a kid to that... ofc I'm taking the job. I'd rather my kid grow up to hate me and have a secure future.
