When you loose a dear pet, how do you cope?

I just lost my best friend of 21 years.

Yes, he was a cat.

This cat was with me to witness my wife pass, my son pass,, three miscarriages, my mom passed, and two of his siblings passed.

I'm at a loss for words...

Rest in peace buddy.

You're sister and I will mourn and miss you tremendously.

This breaks my heart 💔 because when I had to lay my Abby girl down because she had cancer ♋ in her tummy that went to her lungs 🫁.
I had Miss Abby since she was 6 weeks old until she was 13 years old.
She was my best friend, my comforter, my patchwork quilt in life. We slept together and were always together in some way whenever I was home. I had a funeral for her and had her put in a beautiful coffin. I covered her up with a quilt that was made for her and a matching pillow. I covered her up and put her little head on the pillow.
I had her buried at the pet cemetery.
I was inconsolable so I am not one to give advice on how to act or handle it.
I acted like one of my children died and I was a crybaby and a wreck for weeks. She was the daughter I need had. Miss Abby was so smart!!
I have pictures of her all over my house and even near where I sleep.
She's gone but not forgotten❣️

It is right to grieve and it takes time. I lost my cat at the end of 24 and still miss him. At odd times I think I hear him.

I feel with you. I had to let my cat go in February and still missing him. I am living alone. Only work & work in the garden. This is not fulfilling and when you rest you regret not spending more time with each other.

I had anything with a picture of him - a piece of glass engraved with a laser. He will always be in my heart and my thoughts.

That you lost so many people around you is as hard as to lose your cat. All part of your life and alive and feeling... not just an object

I remember the best moments and carry him with me in my heart. I miss him a lot and I haven't been able to find the courage to replace him yet.

I had five dogs once, yes, 5.

All 5 died within an 18-month span. To this day I have never fully recovered from the loss.

We had pets when I was a kid. My fave was a big old german shepherd -- retired military/police service dog my uncle brought home one day. Made my gran crazy at first, but he soon became my favorite babysitter and pillow. I remember the way he'd keep me away from the fireplace, literally sitting there letting one side of his coat get completely singed while giving me a knowing look till I rested my head on him.

When he passed it left a big gaping hole in the family. We still have pics and tell stories about him. It's really all you can do. These creatures enter our lives when we need them most and only leave us when there's nothing left in them to give.

I'll remember the story about your Harley jumping into the lake... that's my favorite one.
